Did you know what goes UNDER your floor matters just as much as the floor itself? 🤯

Underlayment is the thin layer installed between your subfloor and your finished flooring, and it does a lot of work you never see.

🔇 It reduces sound transmission between floors, which matters a lot in two-story homes.

🌡️ It adds a layer of thermal insulation, making floors feel warmer underfoot in cooler months.

🦶 It creates a softer, more comfortable feel underfoot, especially with hard surface flooring.

Skipping or cutting corners on underlayment is one of the most common ways a flooring project ends up feeling "off" after installation.

Sigmund Freud believed that dreams provide a pathway into the unconscious mind. While we sleep, hidden fears, desires, memories, and unresolved emotions may appear through images and symbols.

Dreams are not always meant to be interpreted literally. Freud believed their deeper meaning could offer insight into thoughts and feelings that remain outside our conscious awareness.

His work changed how psychology approached dreams and continues to influence conversations about the relationship between our conscious and unconscious minds.

Long before modern psychology developed the concept of the unconscious mind, Aristotle explored how dreams, memory, imagination, and desire influence human thought and behavior.

His words, “Whenever one contemplates, one necessarily at the same time contemplates in images,” remind us that our thinking is often connected to the mental pictures, memories, and experiences stored within us.

Aristotle did not create today’s theory of the unconscious, but his questions about the mind helped establish an early foundation for psychology and the study of human consciousness.

Another fascinating connection between philosophy and psychology from my PhD journey. 🧠📚
