During the Shah’s era, many women in cities were studying, working, and freely choosing their own clothes. Beach outings and Western fashion were a normal part of life for a large section of society.
Then 1979 arrived and everything changed.
This is not just an old photograph. It’s a quiet reminder of a very different Iran that once existed.

In April, a 24-year-old woman named Xiao Li was lying in a hospital bed in China fighting a rare blood cancer. Her dad was away working to pay for treatment. Her little brother was stuck in an internship. Most days, she was completely alone.
So she did something simple and kind of beautiful. She opened a food delivery app and asked a rider if he’d just sit with her for two hours. One guy said yes. Before he left, he told the other riders she needed company.
And then it started.
Riders began showing up between deliveries and after their shifts. They brought milk, snacks, books, flowers. Some just sat and talked. A police officer came. Other patients. Complete strangers. It turned into this quiet “love relay” of people just… showing up.
She’s out of the hospital now and doing better, still fighting, but she wasn’t alone anymore.
Sometimes the greatest thing you can give someone isn’t money or advice.

One of fashion’s dirtiest little secrets just became illegal in Europe.
Starting July 19, 2026, large companies operating in the EU can no longer destroy unsold clothing, shoes, or accessories. For years, brands burned or dumped perfectly good inventory to protect prices and control supply. That practice is now banned.
The European Commission estimates 4–9% of all textiles put on the EU market were destroyed before anyone ever wore them — hundreds of thousands of tons of waste and carbon emissions every year. Now those companies must resell, donate, repair, or recycle instead.
The rule currently hits only big companies (250+ employees or high revenue). Medium-sized businesses get until 2030. Small businesses are exempt for now. Exceptions still exist for damaged, unsafe, or counterfeit items.
Major retailers are already expanding resale platforms and take-back programs to stay ahead. For an industry that long put scarcity and brand image above sustainability, this is one of the first real legal pushes forcing them to treat leftover inventory as a resource — not trash.

A tiny heartbeat was still fighting under the rubble.
On June 24, 2026, powerful earthquakes tore through Venezuela. Entire buildings in Caraballeda, La Guaira state, came crashing down. Inside the ruins of Residencial El Palmar, a small dog named Giselle was trapped in complete darkness.
A rescue team from El Salvador heard faint barking coming from a narrow opening. For nearly five hours they carefully moved every piece of debris, refusing to give up.
When they finally reached her, Giselle didn’t freeze in fear. She jumped forward, licked her rescuer’s face again and again, and wagged her tail with pure joy. The crowd around them burst into applause.
She was immediately given water and checked for injuries.
In the middle of so much destruction, one little dog reminded everyone what hope looks like.

Think video games are just a waste of time?
A small 2013 study from Berlin might change your mind.
Researchers took 48 healthy young adults and split them into two groups. One group played a specific game every day. The other group didn’t touch it.
After a few weeks, MRI scans revealed something surprising. The gaming group showed increased grey-matter volume in brain regions tied to memory, navigation, planning, working memory, and motor skills. The non-gaming group showed no such changes.
Interestingly, players who felt a stronger urge to play displayed even greater growth in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex.
This study proved that targeted video-game training can physically reshape the brain. However, it does not claim that gaming makes people smarter or can treat any medical condition. Any potential medical applications remain only a topic for future research.
So next time someone says gaming is useless… maybe the brain disagrees.

China just pulled off a next-level move for AI…
Data centers were sucking up so much power and water that grids and rivers were starting to collapse under the pressure. So China went straight underwater and sank them.
Off Hainan Island, they’re dropping sealed steel capsules 35 meters deep, packed with hundreds of servers. The surrounding seawater does the cooling all by itself — no AC, no chillers, no chemicals. Cooling energy drops by 90%, and freshwater use goes to zero. The one near Shanghai is even pulling most of its power from a nearby offshore wind farm.
Instead of building bigger and bigger facilities on land, they just sent the whole thing to the bottom of the ocean. That’s how you actually solve the environmental problem — change the thinking, change the location.
The future of data centers is looking a lot wetter.

At 104, most people are content sitting in a chair.
Dorothy Hoffner jumped out of a plane from 10,000 feet and smiled the whole way down.
She wasn’t chasing records.
She wasn’t looking for fame.
She just wanted to feel that rush one more time after doing it at 100.
While others her age worry about the next doctor visit, she was thinking about what she’d have for dinner after landing.
That’s not just courage.
That’s pure living.
Age is just a number. Attitude is everything.

Did you know the biggest fish in the ocean isn’t a hunter at all?
The whale shark can grow longer than a school bus, with a mouth wide enough to fit a small car… yet it only eats the tiniest things in the sea — plankton, fish eggs and baby fish.
It just opens that giant mouth and filters seawater like a living sieve. No chasing, no attacking. Just peaceful giant vibes.
