🚨 Storm Scam Alert for Menasha Residents 🚨

As our community begins recovering from this week's tornado, we're hearing multiple reports of out-of-state contractors going door-to-door, pressuring homeowners into signing contracts, demanding large upfront payments, and promising that "insurance will cover it."

Unfortunately, we've already heard of homeowners paying tens of thousands of dollars for services like tree removal after being told they had no other choice.

Please remember:
⚠️ Many out-of-state contractors may not be familiar with Wisconsin insurance policies, state laws, or local claim procedures. Don't rely on a contractor's interpretation of your insurance coverage. Your insurance company or agent is the best source for understanding what your policy does and does not cover.

🌳 Tree removal is also commonly misunderstood. Many insurance policies have specific limits for tree removal and often cap the amount they'll pay per tree or per claim. Coverage is not automatically unlimited, even when the tree came down during a storm. Every policy is different, so verify your coverage before agreeing to expensive work.

Before signing anything:
âś… Don't feel pressured to make an immediate decision.
âś… Never assume insurance will pay simply because a contractor says it will.
âś… Be cautious of large upfront payments.
âś… Get multiple estimates whenever possible.
âś… Call your insurance agent or claims representative if you have questions before signing a contract.
âś… Do not provide your insurance policy information to a stranger.
âś… When in doubt, play it safe and utilize local companies.

If you're one of our clients, please call us first. We'd much rather help you review a contractor or answer your coverage questions than see you become another victim of a storm-related scam.

Our thoughts continue to be with everyone affected by the tornado. Please share this post so your friends, family, and neighbors know to stay vigilant while our community rebuilds.

To our Menasha and Appleton communities:

Like so many of you, our team has been deeply impacted by Monday's tornado.

As the storm moved through 3rd Street, two of our own—Chris Klein and Teresa Moran—were inside our Menasha office, sheltering as the tornado passed. Thankfully, they are safe, but like many of our clients and neighbors, they are now navigating the aftermath right alongside you.

This isn't just where we work, it's our community. Our families, friends, coworkers, and clients all call this area home. We understand the uncertainty because we're living through it too.

At this time, our Menasha office will remain closed until we receive word that it is safe to reopen.

If you need assistance, please call our Menasha office at (920) 722-2799. Our phones are still being answered, and our team will be happy to help you. You're also welcome to visit any of our other Family Insurance Center locations for in-person assistance.

Whether you need to start a claim, have questions about your coverage, or simply aren't sure where to begin, we're here for you.

Our hearts are with everyone who has been affected by this storm. Thank you to the first responders, utility crews, volunteers, and neighbors who have already stepped up to help our community begin the recovery process.

We're in this together.

-Your Family Insurance Center Team

Our hearts are with everyone in our community affected by today's tornado and severe weather event. As of now, our Menasha office has been impacted with the most severity and we are working on routing calls and contacting our agents there.

We know many families are facing damage, uncertainty, and difficult decisions tonight. Please know that our team is here to help however we can.

As you can imagine, we are expecting a very high volume of calls over the coming days. We truly appreciate your patience as we work to assist everyone as quickly as possible.

**If your home was damaged, here are a few things you can do while waiting to speak with us:**
• Make sure everyone is safe and contact emergency services if needed.
• Take photos and videos of any damage before beginning cleanup, if it is safe to do so.
• Take reasonable steps to prevent further damage, such as placing a tarp over a damaged roof or removing belongings from standing water when it's safe. Keep any receipts for emergency repairs or supplies.
• If possible, make a list of damaged personal property to help with the claims process.

**If you need to replace a vehicle:**
Most of our auto insurance companies provide 14 days of automatic coverage for newly acquired vehicles. We can take care of those updates after we've worked through the urgent storm-related claims.

If you have storm damage, please reach out to us as soon as you're able, and we'll help guide you through the claims process every step of the way.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected. Please stay safe, check in on your neighbors if you're able, and know that we're here to support our communities through the recovery.

âšľ Supporting our communities, one pitch at a time!

Before the Antigo Typhoon American Legion baseball game, Family Insurance Center was proud to present a $500 donation to the American Legion Post in Antigo.

A special thank you to Agents, Eric DeBruin & Gene Norton for helping coordinate the donation, and to Agent Ryan Geldon and Ron Krueger Sr. from the American Legion for representing the organization and throwing out the ceremonial first pitches before the game.

We are proud to support organizations that invest in local youth, teamwork, and the communities we serve. Great job, Antigo Typhoons!

Investing in our community is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

We are incredibly honored to have been selected by the Westfield Insurance Foundation to receive a $5,500 Legacy of Caring grant benefiting Dairy Cares of Wisconsin.

Each year, Westfield invites its top independent agency partners to nominate a local nonprofit making a difference in their community. We’re proud to partner with Dairy Cares, whose mission supports Children’s Wisconsin and helps ensure kids and families receive the care they need when they need it most.

We’re grateful to Westfield for making it possible to give back in an even bigger way and to Dairy Cares for the incredible work they do across Wisconsin. Thank you, Westfield Insurance Foundation, for your generosity and for investing in the communities we all call home.

We were proud to have Chad and Wendy Van Camp, alongside their children, present this donation to Deric Duquaine and John Vosters of Milk Source. Moments like these are a reminder that giving back is a family value and one we’re proud to share with our community.

Behind every act of giving is a story and a reason to care.

For Chad and Wendy Van Camp, supporting Dairy Cares is about helping ensure that children and families have access to the exceptional care they need when it matters most.

Through the generosity of Wisconsin's dairy community and supporters across the state, Dairy Cares has made a meaningful impact for Children's Wisconsin, proving that when a community comes together, lives are changed.

We're proud to support causes that strengthen our communities and make a difference for Wisconsin families.

Thank you to everyone who continues to give back and support organizations like Dairy Cares and Children's Wisconsin.
