PITI: It’s not a typo — it’s what makes up your mortgage payment.

If you're buying a home, understanding your PITI helps you budget with confidence. Here's what it includes:

Principal — The part of your payment that goes toward reducing your loan balance
Interest — What the lender charges you for borrowing the money
