So far, we’ve talked about COVERAGE, EXCLUSIONS, and LIMITS. This week, we’re covering one of the most common insurance words—and one that can make a big difference when a claim happens.

TODAY’S WORD: DEDUCTIBLE

A DEDUCTIBLE is the amount you pay out of pocket toward a covered loss before your insurance may help pay the rest, subject to your policy terms.

For example, if you have a covered claim with a $1,000 deductible, you are responsible for that $1,000 portion. Your deductible is not an extra fee—it is part of how your policy is designed.

Knowing your deductible BEFORE you need to file a claim helps you plan ahead and avoid surprises.

This week, we're introducing the woman who started it all—Angela Lamb, owner of Angela Lamb Insurance.

Originally from Nebraska, Angela made Texas home in 1999. After earning both her undergraduate degree and MBA from Dallas Baptist University, she took a leap of faith, left the corporate world, and opened her own Farmers Insurance agency. Twenty-two years later, she's still passionate about helping families protect what matters most while leading an award-winning team that shares that same commitment.

Ask Angela what she enjoys most about her career, and it isn't the awards or recognition. It's helping people navigate the often-confusing world of insurance and watching her team grow, succeed, and make a difference in the lives of their clients every day.
