Important Open Enrollment Renewal Notation: If you receive a tax credit/subsidy, please take note. When your insurance company (not the Marketplace) sends you the initial notice of renewal premium and your subsidy amount, the subsidy amount will not be accurate. This is due to a conflict of process. The insurance company is obligated by regulation to send this notice to you before the Marketplace has provided them with the new subsidy amount for the upcoming year. Yes, it is dumb, but that is the way it is. Generally, if your income is consistent from year to year, the subsidy picks up most of the premium increase. You can go to your account on line or call the Marketplace after November 1st to confirm your subsidy or wait for the adjusted statement. If you are happy with the plan you have been offered (usually the current plan with noted adjustments, if applicable) and you do not have any significant changes to report, the plan will auto-renew. Regardless, the Marketplace will send you a copious volume of notices telling you to take action, because they send these freely to everyone. Thank you.

If you are receiving a premium subsidy through the marketplace, it will absorb most of the increase this year. However, when you receive your 2020 premium notice from the insurance company, it will not reflect the increased subsidy. It will appear you are going to face a big jump in cost, but it can be reduced by updating your account. We can help. If you are not receiving a subsidy, the increases will sting this year. We can help you review other options.
