Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 166 http://ualocal166.org/ Local 166 and the contractors we work with are proud of a long and distinguished history in Fort Wayne, with roots dating back to 1899.

Today, with almost 700 working members and 35 contractor members, we are dedicated to continuing this tradition of excellence. Our partnership results in an investment of over $500,000 per year to make sure our workforce has the most up-to-date skills for every project. Our plumbers, pipe fitters, welders, and HVAC service technicians are the best in the industry. Contact us for information about

The organization donates nearly 600 hours of community service a year collectively and is involved with many local charitable programs.Local 166 has partnered with Ivy Tech for more than a decade to make sure that members are receiving the best training possible. The school offers a program that takes an apprentice all the way to journeyman status throught a five-year program.Students who have completed the curriculum are awarded an associate's degree in their trade, as well as a Building Trades Journeyperson's Card.Contact our director of training, Jess Wagner, for more information about becoming an apprentice.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!

Our Local 166 Union Hall isn't just a building. It is a shield for your family's future, where we organize for better pay, and train the next generation of hands.
Labor Day belongs to the people who walk through these doors and hit the job sites every day. We don't just celebrate today; we protect our members tomorrow and for years to come.

To our apprentices, journeymen, retirees and families who support them through the long hours and tough shifts; we appreciate you and thank you for keeping Local 166 union strong!

For generations, union men and women have helped build the backbone of this country. We are proud to continue that legacy every day through the skill, dedication and craftsmanship of our members.
Here's to 250 years of building America-- and to the generations who will carry that tradition forward!

With temperatures climbing this week, take the heat seriously. Working in extreme heat can quickly lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke if you're not careful.

A few reminders to help stay safe:
Drink plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty.
Wear light-colored, breathable clothing and use sun protection.
Take breaks in the shade or an air-conditioned area whenever possible.
Look out for your coworkers. If someone seems dizzy, confused, nauseous or stops sweating, get them a cool place and seek medical attention immediately.
Avoid excessive caffeine or energy drinks that can contribute to dehydration.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and watch out for one another!
