Today I had the blessing to be able to present a $500 scholarship from Horace Mann to an amazing young man. Hand picked out of the whole EACS district, this young man not only inspires people with his words of wisdom, but he faithfully cleans the lunch room when no one is around. If you ever get the chance to meet him, you will know he has a bright spirit from the first smile. It's such a pleasure to be a small part of his big dream to go to Grace College.

What a blessing to be a part of the Teacher and Employee of the year surprises with FWCS. It brings me so much joy to see educators get the recognition they deserve. In every winner you could see their passion for serving their kids.

One reason why I posted the Parent Plus loan info below, is because the interest rate is so high, it makes paying the loan back extremely difficult. I will give you an example. Assuming you borrow $30,000 in Parent Plus loans (which is a rough average of people with student loan debt). If you make $250 per month payments, which is tough for a lot of people these days, it takes 20 years to pay it back and you end up paying $60,000 over that time. That is crazy right? And here is the kicker, if you pay anything less than $200, you literally cannot pay off the loan because of the interest. As interest rates come down over the next few years, I would be looking to refinance those loans and pay them off aggressively through budgeting and intentional spending. Otherwise you will spend the next 20 years of your life paying off a $30,000 loan.

Parkview Family!

Did you know, If you work at Parkview, you are eligible for the PSLF program? This means you get total student loan forgiveness after making 120 payments on an income-based repayment plan going forward (only for public loans). Currently you can file for PSLF and they will count ANY payment back to October of 2007. Meaning if you have made 120 payments since then, of any payment type, you could potentially get the rest of your loans forgiven right now. COVID months count for everybody as well, even if you didn't make a payment. If this is you, send me a confidential email at [email protected] and I will help you file for free.
