Thompson, will be the guest speaker at a forum entitled "Good Leadership vs. Bad Leadership, 6 p.m. Nov. 6, hosted by The Marne Chapter of The ROCKS, Inc - A Leadership Outreach organization. BRIDGES REDUCED TO ONE LANE, through Nov. 7: The following bridges will be reduced to one lane through Nov. 7 for maintenance and repair: Bridge #69 on 15th Street (Just past the railroad crossing); Bridge #71 on 6th St. (Just before CIF); and Bridge #2 on FS 40 (Just past the Sanitary Landfill). Lanes will reopen as soon as the repair is complete. All repair work should be complete by Nov. 7. Motorists should try to avoid these locations, if possible, to prevent congestion. WATER OUTAGE, Nov. 8: There will be a water outage at the EOD Complex on Hwy 144 Nov8. The times for the outage are from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The outage is necessary to complete the connection of the force main to lift station at EOD and the connections of the water main that supply the kennel. POC is Joyce Oglesby of the Army Corps Of Engineers at 320-5000.

TRAINING COORDINATION BRIEF, Nov. 12: The next monthly Training Coordination Brief, "Not Just for Master Gunners", is Tues., Nov. 12, 9:30 a.m. LOCATION CHANGE to Virtual Training Facility, Building 1814, 1266 West 18th Street, Classroom 118. NATIONAL NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE OBSERVANCE, Nov. 13: The 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team will host the annual 3rd Infantry Division National Native American Heritage Month Observance, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 13, at Club Stewart in the Main Ballroom. The guest speaker is Mr. Paul Buster, Seminole language teacher for the Seminole Tribe of Florida. All Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield units are invited to attend and show your support!

ASAP TRAINING OFFERED, Nov. 15: The Hunter Army Airfield’s Army Substance Abuse Program will conduct Quarterly Substance Abuse Prevention and Awareness Training Nov. 15 at the HAAF Post Theater, Bldg #1282 between 9-10 a.m., 10:15-11:15 a.m., 1-2 p.m., and 2:15-315 p.m. All units are encouraged to take advantage of this training opportunity, the ASAP will count the training hrs toward each unit’s minimum 4 hr annual Substance Abuse Prevention and Awareness Training requirement. Also, volunteers are needed help decorate Holbrook Pond 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Dec. 2-11. Individuals are asked only to bring a sense of fun and a desire to paint, hang, hook, and tie various items around the Holbrook area. It’s a great way to get those volunteer hours in for the year. MARNE WEEK ROAD CLOSURE FOR 5K/10K, Nov. 19: 6th Street, 15th Street, and 18th Street will be closed on Nov. 19, 2013 from 6:15am to 8:30am for the Marne Week 5K/10K race. This closure will also affect Gulick Avenue and William H. Wilson Avenue from 6th Street to 18th Street (2BDE and 1BDE areas).

MARNE WEEK 5K/10K RACE, Nov. 19 (Registration through Nov. 15): Sign up now to run in the Marne Week 5K or 10K Nov. 19, at 6:30 a.m. Soldiers and family members should contact their battalion Marne Week POC with name, rank, and gender to register and receive their race number. Individual winners of the 5K and 10K in both male and female categories will be honored at the closing ceremony on Friday, Nov. 22. The scores of family members who register through their battalion will count towards that battalion’s overall race score. YOUTH SPORTS WINTER REGISTRATION UNDER WAY; COACHES WANTED: Fort Stewart Youth Sports (ages 5-18) winter registration is from Nov. 1-Dec. 6. For 5- to 6-year-old basketball players, the registration fee is $20 because they are non-competitive. Basketball (ages 7-14) is $40. Basketball cheerleading (ages 6-13) is $40. VETERANS SALUTE, Nov. 16: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Veterans Salute, presented by the Hinesville Military Affairs Committee (HMAC), at Bryant Commons, downtown Hinesville. 19TH ANNUAL TELFAIR ART FAIR, Nov. 16 & 17: The Telfair Art Fair is free and open to the public on Sat., Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sun., Nov. 17 from noon to 4 p.m. Set up around Telfair Square, the event features 80 local and regional artists.
