Happy first day of fall! 🍂 As the seasons change, it’s a great time to brush up on the warning signs of financial scams. Scams can take many forms, but knowing what to watch for can help you protect your money and personal information. Keep these tips in mind:

🍁 Be cautious of unexpected contact. Don’t provide personal or financial information in response to an unsolicited call, text or email.
🍁 Don’t let urgency pressure you. Scammers may claim you need to act immediately, send money or provide information to avoid a problem.
🍁 Never share passwords, PINs or verification codes. Keep information used to access your accounts private.
🍁 Think before you click. Avoid links and attachments in unexpected messages, even if they appear to come from a familiar company.
🍁 Watch for unusual payment requests. Be suspicious if someone insists you pay by gift card, wire transfer or another difficult-to-reverse method.
🍁 Verify before you respond. If someone claims to represent First State Bank, contact us directly using a number you know and trust.
