Sargent called a recently released defendant saying he had been red flagged and not completed his anger management classes. Said a warrant was placed for his arrest.
So I called the number today.
239-372-8832 Sargent Williams answered. I asked for the badge number, refused. Scammer.

fraud alert phone calls
The Lee County Sheriff's Office has been receiving an increased number of reports from citizens regarding scam calls involving their family members. The caller's phone number is often listed as 'Unknown' or is a VoIP number, which is a digital phone number that uses the internet for calls.

Scammers introduce themselves, pretending to be deputies of the Lee County Sheriff's Office, hereby using different names. Scammers will then explain that one of their family members was arrested. These callers continue to state that the incarcerated family member can be released with an ankle monitor device, due to an overcrowded jail.

If the scammer's request is accepted by the concerned family member, they will request payment in advance, which could be in the form of purchasing gift cards, or by placing cash in a crypto ATM at a nearby location.

Most of the time, the family members in question were indeed arrested a few hours earlier. It appears scammers are scrolling the public LCSO website to view recent arrests. Scammers will gather personal public information (Doxing), to reach out to the unaware family members, and attempt to persuade them to make this payment to expedite the release of their loved ones from jail.

If you witness this scam, or become a victim, please contact LCSO at 239-477-1000, or your local law enforcement jurisdiction immediately. Furthermore, LCSO provides an online self-reporting option on their public website: https://www.sheriffleefl.org/file-online-report/

I just received a call from a concern father his son is in the Palm Beach County Jail for battery. Of course he does not have a bond yet until he sees the judge tomorrow morning for first appearance
Scammer Ryan, who pretends to work for our company started calling and texting the father all day. The Scammer Ryan called the father myltiple times today Who tried to pay through cash app which was declined then his credit cards which were declined and finally he went to Walgreens to get a cash card and paid the Scammer $1500.

When the Scammer was no longer accepting his phone calls. He decided to look up All Out Bail Bonds.

I can always tell because he was very hesitant to say do you have a Ryan who works for you? It’s always a dead giveaway. They suspect they’ve been scam but they’re not quite sure yet.

No Ryan does not work for All Out Bail Bonds. He is a scammer. He is actually a prisoner in an Alabama prison so when you pay the money, it is going into a commissary account for a prisoner.

Mother call All Out Bail Bonds at 6:08pm. Her son had been arrested and put in the squad car approximately 10 minutes prior. at that time I brought up the BAIL BOND scams five times during our conversation thro our conversation we were able to determine her son had a warrant. He is a hold for first appearance tomorrow at 10 AM and there’s nothing we can do for him this evening, but prepare for the eminent BAIL BOND scammers that would be calling her. Which I did bring up to her probably five times during the conversation which she probably thought it was excessive.

At 8:02 her son was booked into the Lee County Jail by 8:18 she had received two calls from scammers. She did put me in on a three-way call with a gentleman claiming to be Sergeant Towels badge number 666CD. He said all her son had to do was sign up for pre-trial classes and pay a Lee county sergeant money through a Zelle account.

I have confirmed with Lee County that there is not a Sergeant towels and that badge number is not valid.

when you have a friend or family member who is arrested, the information is public record. Every Scammer is trolling the recent bookings because they know it’s a high stress situation and they have a greater chance of counting you out of money because they have proof they’re in jail. The rule is pay cash at the jail or contact a bail bondsman of your choosing and walk into their office to do the paperwork. Do not pay money over the phone through Venmo Cash app Apple Pay green dot chime PayPal Zelle or go to Walgreens or the dollar tree and get a card none of those forms offer fraud protection so if you get scammed, you lost the money.

Please report all scams to the federal trade commission as well as your local PD. Lee county is

Sheriff Property Crime Detectives Arrest Cash Scam Courier

Over the last couple weeks deputies have taken reports of a Cash Courier Scam in and around the Windsor area. The caller told the victims their bank accounts were compromised and requested they withdraw cash to place into a safe place by the couriers pretending to work for the Federal Government.

Today, Property Crime Detectives were able to set up a sting operation and wait for a Courier driver to arrive. Once the driver arrived and took possession of the package Detectives along with Windsor Police Deputies were able to arrest the male. He was identified as Zhengning Chen out of Oakland.

Zhengning was transported to the county jail and a bail enhancement of $250,000 was obtained.

The Sonoma County Sheriffs Office would like to remind residents that no Government agency or Bank would ever contact you and ask for personal identifying information or money. This kind of crime has been on the rise for years and criminals continue to find new ways to exploit victims. The Sonoma County Sheriffs Office remains dedicated and proactive in apprehending these criminals.
