Native to warm coastal waters around the world, baby stingrays are born fully formed and ready to glide through shallow seas. With their soft, rounded bodies and tiny eyes on top, they almost look like they’re smiling as they “fly” underwater.

Unlike many fish, stingrays don’t lay eggs. The mother gives birth to live young, and from day one, these little rays must fend for themselves—hiding under sand to stay safe from predators.

They move by gently flapping their wide pectoral fins like wings, gracefully cruising along the ocean floor in search of small fish and crustaceans.
