When the Rosen brothers started developing Cape Coral in the late 1950s, they bought an “amphibicar” to take buyers on property tours. You could buy a waterfront plot for $2,000 with only $20 as a down payment. Salesman were also sent overseas and had a lot of luck in Germany, which is why there are so many Germans in Cape Coral today.
