🚨 COMMUNITY SCAM ALERT — PLEASE READ & SHARE! 🚨
Scammers are contacting families pretending to be deputies, jail employees, or bail bond agents. Before sending ANY money, please pay attention to these warning signs:
🚩 RED FLAGS OF A BAIL BOND SCAM:
* Someone calls claiming your loved one has a $1,500 bond or another specific bond amount when a bond has not yet been set.
* The caller claims they are a deputy or employee from the jail and tells you money must be sent immediately.
* They pressure you to send money through Zelle, Cash App, or another instant-payment app, especially late at night.
* They try to rush or scare you so you don’t have time to verify the information.
✅ BEFORE YOU SEND MONEY:
Verify everything first.
You can look up your loved one directly on the Lee County Jail’s public inmate search to see whether they are currently in custody and whether a bond has been set.
When possible, physically go to the bail bond office and make sure you are dealing with a legitimate, licensed company before making payment.
