This day has been forever etched in the hearts, souls and minds of Americans all across this nation, including mine! This day was one of the most emotional and scary days I've ever experienced! I was eight months pregnant with Abbigail, at home with my husband and our two boys, ages 1 and 4. We were paralyzed with emotion and fear... in front of the television watching as this terror unfolded.... Planes being hijacked and crashed into buildings full of our fellow Americans! Explosions! Ash filled the streets! Screams of horror... and pain! Seeing bodies falling from the sky, hearing them crashing onto cars and awnings! So much fear! So much uncertainty! We sat in line for hours to fill our gas tanks! No idea if all of the young American men (and women) might be drafted to fight for our safety and freedom! Not sure if more attacks were in store, would they hit somewhere in the Midwest? Those sights and sounds should NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!!
Following the massive tragedy, Americans united like I'd never seen before... and have never seen since! We were ONE NATION UNDER GOD!!! The entire country mourned the lives lost, the families torn apart, the babies without parents, the parents without their children! The entire country watched for days as rescue and recovery missions continued! We prayed for the first responders tasked with finding bodies and notifying loved ones! Who went days without seeing their own families!
How soon so many have forgotten this time in our lives!
