God bless you and your family, you will be missed!
Statement from State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle Re the Passing of Former Assistant State Attorney Patrick "Pat" Trese
"It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of former Assistant State Attorney Patrick Trese.
Pat, as he was affectionately called, began his exemplary career in our office in 2001. During his tenure at the SAO, he served as the Chief of our County Court Division, overseeing the prosecution of thousands of DUI cases per year and supervising hundreds of prosecutors during his time as Chief of County Court.
He was a member of the Traffic Homicide Unit and prosecuted some of the most serious DUI Manslaughter and Vehicular Homicide cases in Miami-Dade County. He was also a member of our Sexual Battery Unit/Child Abuse Unit and tried numerous capital sexual battery cases during his time in the unit.
In 2009, Pat was recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving with their prestigious Prosecution of Distinction Award. In April 2010, he left our office to start a new law practice focusing on criminal defense.
I know that all of us who remember Pat for his kind and patient demeanor and excellent trial skills, will always treasure the memories we have of him.
Pat was a loving husband to his wife Teri Lynn, and a loving father to their three young children. Please keep Pat and his beloved family in your thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time."
