Celebrating another birthday 🎉 this past weekend gave me a moment to reflect. If I had the chance to sit down with my 20-year-old self over coffee, here’s what I’d tell her:
1️⃣ Start investing earlier than you think you should. Time is a multiplier, not just a number.
2️⃣ Automate more. Savings, investments, even bill payments…your future self will thank you.
3️⃣ Live below your means, but not below your joy. Lifestyle creep is sneaky. Every raise doesn’t need to equal more spending. Living below your means builds freedom.
4️⃣ Don’t fear financial conversations. Ask the “dumb” questions. There are none.
5️⃣ Focus on skills, not titles. Skills compound, too.
6️⃣ Build relationships intentionally. Your network becomes one of your greatest assets in life and business.
7️⃣ Protect your downside. Insurance, emergency funds, and legal documents aren’t “old people things.” They’re foundation things.
8️⃣ Take care of your health: physical, emotional, and financial. They are all connected!
As a financial advisor today, these lessons shape the way I guide clients and the way I live my own life.
Here’s to growing wiser, not just older.
It’s never too early, or too late, to set your financial future on the right path.
