Meet your Colorado Medicare Insurance Specialists

As a young college graduate, I supported seniors with their Social Security needs and today continue to support seniors with their Medicare needs. My first career job after graduating from college was as a Social Security Claims Representative in Santa Barbara, California. After leaving the Social Security Administration, I wrote a book about Social Security Overpayments and also represented clients seeking disability benefits before Administrative Law Judges. Somewhere in there I got married to LeAnne, the love of my life. After four years we moved to Fort Collins, CO where I worked as a financial planner with Waddell and Reed and Northwestern Mutual.

Although I provided a wide range to financial and insurance products to solve my client’s needs, I kept gravitating more and more toward health insurance products. Eventually, I realized that I wanted to be an independent health insurance broker with my own agency. Trozan Insurance Agency opened in 1985 as a small office in a downtown bank in Fort Collins. To keep the overhead expenses down, I shared an office room with a tax preparer. When both of us had clients at the same time, it got oh so loud! But this small inconvenience was well worth it; it kept the overhead down in order to survive the first few lean years while building up the business.

Trozan Insurance Agency soon began to gain a reputation as one of the bigger Fort Collins agencies writing group and individual health insurance, along with Medicare Supplements. Due to the large volume of business the agency was producing, I became a General Agent for one of my carriers. I recruited and contracted about 35 agents, guiding and educating them in the nuances of the policy I represented, new products, and changes in the health insurance industry. I also served many years as a board member for the Northern Colorado chapter of the National Association of Health Underwriters.
