Make SMART Resolutions this 2019! Specific. Measurable. Achievable. Relevant. Time-bound. SMART was coined in the journal Management Review in 1981. So, why are New Year’s resolutions important? Contemplating the circumstances we want to change going forward forces us to reflect on the activities of the past year mindfully and with optimism, breathing new life into our ability to affect change in our lives and the lives of others. When you make a resolution, you are practicing self-reflection & this self-reflection is very important for everyone. Here are some Popular New Year’s Resolutions:
1. Promise to donate to charities more often
2. Try to become more assertive
3. Strive to be more environmentally responsible.
4. Improve physical well-being: eat healthy food, lose weight, exercise more, eat better, drink less Alcohol, quit smoking, stop biting nails, get rid of old bad habits
5. Improve mental well-being: think positive, laugh more often, enjoy life
6. Improve finances: get out of debt, save money, make small investments
7. Improve career: perform better at current job, get a better job, establish own business
8. Improve education: improve grades, get a better education, learn something new (such as a foreign language or music), study often, read more books, improve talents
9. Improve self: become more organized, reduce stress, be less grumpy, manage time, be more independent, perhaps watch less television, play fewer sitting-down video games
10. Take a trip
11. Volunteer to help others, practice life skills, use civic virtue, give to charity, volunteer to work part-time in a charity organization
12. Get along better with people, improve social skills, enhance social intelligence
13. Make new friends
14. Spend quality time with family members
15. Settle down, get engaged/get married, have kids
16. Pray more, be more spiritual
17. Be more involved in sports or different activities
18. Spend less time on social media (such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr etc.)
