It's that time of year again! School buses are back on rural roads, right alongside tractors, combines, and other farm equipment moving between fields. Add narrow shoulders, blind curves, and kids waiting at the end of long driveways, and it's a combination that deserves extra caution.⚠️

A few reminders as the season shifts:
▪️ Stop for flashing lights. If a bus has its lights flashing and stop arm out, you must stop — regardless of which direction you're traveling on a two-lane road. The "danger zone" around the bus is where kids are most at risk.

▪️ Be patient with farm equipment. Slow-moving vehicles aren't trying to inconvenience you — give them room and don't pass on blind hills or curves.

▪️ The fines are real. Illinois carries a mandatory minimum $300 fine and 3-month license suspension for a first offense of passing a stopped school bus — $1,000 and a year suspension for a second.

A few extra seconds of patience protects a lot of kids and neighbors. Slow down out there. 🌾🚌
