❄️ WINTER STORM PREP: FORNEY, TX ❄️
Hey neighbors! With "Winter Storm Fern" heading our way this weekend (Jan 23–25), it’s time to get ready. Forecasters are calling for freezing rain and ice, which could lead to power outages and slick roads.
Here is your quick Forney Prep Checklist to finish before Friday:
🏠 PROTECT THE 4 P’s:
• PIPES: Wrap outdoor faucets and open under-sink cabinets.
• PLANTS: Bring them in or cover them with fabric (not plastic!).
• PETS: Bring all furry friends inside!
• PEOPLE: Check on elderly neighbors and family.
🔋 GEAR UP:
• Power: Charge your phones and portable batteries now.
• Light: Find your flashlights (avoid candles if possible).
• Gas: Fill up your car’s gas tank today!
• Food: Have a 3-day supply of non-perishables and water.
⚠️ SAFETY FIRST:
• Avoid the Roads: Bridges and overpasses on Hwy 80 and I-20 will ice over first. Stay home if you can!
• Heater Safety: Never use your stove for heat. If using a generator, keep it outside and far away from windows.
Keep an eye on Forney ISD and Kaufman County Emergency Management for closures and local updates.
Stay safe and stay warm, Forney! 🧤☕️
