Lakes Center does incredible work in our community, stepping in with hands-on guidance, care and connection for local youth and their families – especially when it comes to staying engaged in school.

Check out the video below to see their impact in action! Representatives from Lakes Center will be hanging out with us at the event, so stop by, say hello, and see how you can get involved.

As a former educator, it was especially meaningful to participate in the Forest Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Business Education Day & Vendor Show. I enjoyed meeting the newest members of our district's teaching staff, sharing some prizes, and sponsoring a classroom supply grant to help them get started.

Best wishes to these talented educators as they begin the important work of shaping the future of our students.

For as long as I can remember, I've dreamed of commuting to work by bicycle. It may seem like a small thing, but lately I've been making a conscious effort to pursue the things I've always meant to do instead of putting them off for "someday."

That mindset extends beyond biking. As an advisor, I see how easy it is for people to postpone important goals, experiences, and conversations because life gets busy. Whether it's planning for retirement, supporting family, giving back to the community, or simply creating the freedom to do what you love, having a plan can help turn "someday" into today.

This season, I'm enjoying the ride to work and the reminder that some dreams are worth pursuing now. You have 100% of your life left, what is something you've always meant to do?

Supporting our local Chamber has become very important to me, and I'm grateful for all it does to strengthen our community. I'm proud to partner with Leif Erickson and represent Thrivent as a hole sponsor at Forest Lake Area Chamber of Commerce’s 39th Annual Golf Tournament.

I look forward to seeing friends, fellow Chamber members, and local business leaders on the course. Looking forward to seeing you there!

So many miles we ran together before my injury.

These days, I'm on my bike alongside my daughter as she works toward her summer mileage goal. Every step she takes brings her a little closer to where she wants to be. And every mile reminds me how grateful I am to be beside her on the journey.

The same is true in my work.

I've found that meaningful progress rarely comes from one big decision. More often, it comes from taking the next step. One conversation. One goal clarified. One decision that moves you a little closer to where you want to be.

Planning isn't about having everything figured out before you start.

It's about making thoughtful decisions one step at a time, one day at a time, adjusting as life changes, and continuing to move forward.

Life gets busy. Family, work, activities, and responsibilities compete for our attention. It's easy to put important goals on hold while waiting for the "perfect" time.

But progress doesn't require perfection. It just requires a next step.

What's one step you've been putting off that could move you closer to a goal that's important to you?

This July, we recognize Disability Awareness Month and the importance of creating a more accessible world for people of all abilities.

It's a reminder to reflect, learn and recommit to building communities where everyone is seen, valued and empowered to thrive.

Did I get up at 3:45 to open our office downtown Forest Lake, MN, yep. Did I take my time making coffee because no one could possibly already be setting chairs up for the parade, yep. Was there a car at the front door and people outside at 4:05, also yep.

Turned out to be a wonderful way to start the day. Met some folks, read as the sun came up over Forest Lake, and watched the parade come right by our office. Spectacular!

We were honored to sponsor the Brave Like Gabe 5K in Saint Paul, celebrating Gabe's birthday while supporting the fight against cancer through research and awareness.
One of the most meaningful parts of the day was seeing so many runners stop by our table to write heartfelt birthday cards and encouraging notes to children currently undergoing cancer treatment. Their kindness was truly inspiring.

It was a privilege to be part of such a powerful event, but the highlight for me was a conversation with Gabe's mom. Her strength, perspective, and unwavering commitment to helping others left me speechless. Some stories remind us what courage really looks like—this was one of them.

Grateful to have been a small part of such an incredible day. ❤️
