Some of you have been noticing the new piece of artwork in the office and we want to share the amazing story behind it with you!

When Dusty attended the LPL Conference in August 2024, the keynote speaker was Erik Wahl, an artist who painted three pictures upside down during his presentation. Later, the paintings were auctioned off. The bidding went too high, so Dusty decided not to bid.

In March 2026, Dusty earned Masters status, which included an all-expenses-paid trip for him and Amy to Palm Springs. There, he continued learning and collaborating with other LPL advisors and executives. One evening, Dusty and Amy attended an outdoor dinner, where they met several LPL executives, including Rich Steinmeier, the CEO of LPL. During their conversation, Dusty told Rich how much he had enjoyed Erik Wahl’s keynote presentation and that he would have bid on the Einstein painting if the price had not climbed so high.

One week after Dusty and Amy returned home from Palm Springs, a large, unexpected package arrived at the office. Dusty opened it and found the Albert Einstein painting, along with a handwritten note from Rich. What an incredible surprise! Dusty had spoken with him for only five or ten minutes, yet Rich not only remembered him but also went above and beyond to have the painting sent to Forest City. Dusty emailed Rich to thank him and said he hoped to thank him in person at the conference in August.

Fast-forward to early August when Dusty, Amy, and Monica traveled to San Diego for LPL’s annual conference. More than 10,000 advisors attend the conference and stay at several hotels throughout the area. As luck would have it, Rich stepped into the same elevator as they did one evening, giving Dusty the opportunity to hug him and thank him in person.

The painting now hangs in the entryway of our office for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you again, Rich, for this amazing and thoughtful gift!
