Ford City Borough is proud to announce that the Borough has been awarded $100,000 through DCED’s Main Street Matters Program to launch a Borough-wide Façade Improvement Program!

This program will provide 50/50 matching grants (up to $5,000 per property) to help local businesses and property owners improve storefronts, signage, lighting, and more. With private investment, this effort is expected to generate over $200,000 in total improvements across our community.

This initiative was developed in 2025 through a partnership between the Borough and the Ford City Area Business and Professional Association, and reflects strong local demand for reinvestment in our commercial corridors.

This is a big step toward improving curb appeal, supporting our small businesses, and continuing the revitalization of Ford City!

This grant award brings the tally to $2,578,428 in grant funds received by Ford City Borough in 2026 alone!

S/O to Oliver Pro Wash for getting the front of the building power washed and cleaned from the 5th Ave traffic and winter muck! Did you know they do window cleaning too!

We brought Bruce and his team back from Nestor Home Improvement Painting & Contracting to finish part 2 of the painting project from the fall

Coming Up next…landscaping and minor concrete repairs in the coming weeks. This building needed a refresh coming into town!

Updates at the Former Brightmyers Greenhouse 🌱

Over the past several months we’ve been working behind the scenes at the former Brightmyers Greenhouse property and wanted to share a quick update with the community on what’s happening and what’s ahead.

We are currently separating the front building from the greenhouse space to create new opportunities for businesses in the area. In the coming months we will begin marketing the front building as a “built-to-suit” commercial space, giving the right tenant the ability to customize the space to fit their needs. We will entertain all business options and work though zoning or building code issues with the future tenant. For more information contact 724-859-4974.

The front building has already received a fresh coat of paint, and this spring we’ll continue improving the property with additional painting, landscaping, and concrete work to enhance the overall appearance and functionality of the site.

As for the greenhouse itself — it will remain a greenhouse for the time being. Ownership is currently evaluating the next step, which may include leasing the greenhouse to another provider or potentially launching a new greenhouse operation in the future.

We’ll also have another opportunity coming soon. The back garage space is expected to be available for rent within the next two months. We’ll be sharing more information, photos, and pricing in future posts.

At this time the property does not yet have a new name, but we hope to eventually establish an identity that reflects the future vision and continued growth of the site. Stay tuned for more details soon.

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS - WINTER STORM RESPONSE

A significant winter storm is expected Saturday night through Sunday, with snowfall totals projected anywhere between 6 and 18 inches. Borough Public Works crews will be responding throughout the event as conditions allow.

During the storm, crews will prioritize main roads and emergency routes and will focus on keeping driving lanes passable, especially for emergency vehicles. Snow removal will be a slow and ongoing process due to the expected accumulation and duration of the storm.

Once snowfall ends and “mop-up” operations begin, crews will shift to clearing shoulders, intersections, and snow piles, including the use of Borough equipment to remove and haul snow where necessary. This work may continue into early next week. Please be patient with our Public Works Department as they work through long hours of this winter storm event.

Residents are strongly encouraged to stay off the roads during the storm unless absolutely necessary. In addition, please park vehicles off the roadway whenever possible following the storm so crews can properly clear shoulders and intersections safely and efficiently. In addition, please do not shovel snow on to the roads as cleanup progresses.

Your cooperation helps keep roads safer for everyone and allows Public Works to complete snow removal as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this significant weather event.
