The transition is done, Safeco is now Liberty Mutual!

So first here's a little background, Liberty Mutual Insurancel acquired Safeco in 2008 and kept the Safeco Insurance name for personal lines in the independent agent channel.

In Q1 of 2026 Liberty Mutual will retire the brand Safeco and market and sell all personal lines products under the Liberty Mutual name.

This allows Liberty Mutual and their customers, agents & partners to fully harness the Liberty Mutual brand value.

What does this mean for Safeco customers? Nothing... Safeco customers will keep their agent relationship, and their policies will not be impacted other than the name change.

Had the privilege of speaking to a guy who I really look up to in the insurance industry last week and he was kind enough to give me some free game to this young guy.

He told me two of the most valuable coverages to add to any homeowner’s, Dwelling, or Condo policy is Personal Property Replacement Cost and Water Back Up & SUMP-PUMP Over Flow Coverage.

What are they?!:
Personal Property Replacement Cost- an added endorsement that will compensate you (the owner) the full replacement cost of your personal property that is lost, stolen, damaged, or broken. The important thing to factor is that depreciation is NOT accounted for unlike standard Coverage C which pays out on an ACV (actual cash value basis).

Important to note:
On a Dwelling Policy where Coverage C is not needed this endorsement need not apply.

Whether you have Personal Property Replacement Cost endorsement or not it is highly advised to take photos and keep records of all of you valuable personal property.

This endorsement can also be added to a renters policy

Water Back Up & SUMP-PUMP Overflow - an added endorsement that covers losses from water damage resulting from backed up drains, sewers, or a failed sump-pump

✅ Includes damage to the home structure.
✅ damage to contents by additional endorsement.
✅ Mold damage cause by water/sewer backup.
✅ Additional living expense if home is un-livable due to water/sewer backup
✅ cleanup and mitigation.

Please note THIS IS NOT A FLOOD POLICY AND DOESN’T COVER FLOOD DAMAGE. FLOOD INSURANCE IS A SEPARATE POLICY!
