📢 THE FED RAISED RATES — BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR MORTGAGE RATES? 🏠

You may have seen the news today that the Federal Reserve raised its benchmark interest rate by 0.25%, bringing the federal funds target range to 3.75%–4.00%.

But here’s the important part for anyone buying or refinancing a home:

👉 The Fed does NOT directly set mortgage rates.

Mortgage rates are influenced by the bond market, especially the 10-year Treasury, along with inflation expectations, the economy, investor demand and other market factors. So a Fed rate hike does not automatically mean mortgage rates will go up by 0.25%

Mortgage rates can move up, down, or stay relatively flat following a Fed decision depending on what the market has already anticipated and how investors react.
