It was only a matter of time...
Now it's a federal lawsuit.🍿
A class-action complaint filed this week accuses Veterans United of steering veterans into higher-rate loans through a referral network they never knew existed.
Here's how it **allegedly** worked:
→ Veterans United sent leads to "preferred" real estate agents
→ Agents paid Veterans United 35% of their commission at closing
→ Agents who didn't steer clients back to Veterans United lost their leads
→ Borrowers thought they were dealing with a government program. They weren't.
Many veterans believed they were "required" to use Veterans United since it's "part of the VA."
It isn't.
It's Mortgage Research Center, LLC. Private. For-profit. No government affiliation.
Here's what nobody tells you about referral networks:
→ The person steering you often has a financial interest in where you land
→ When that's hidden, you can't make a real decision
→ Your benefit, earned through service, deserves better than a machine designed around someone else's commission.
I'm not celebrating a lawsuit.
I'm noting that the pattern was visible long before the complaint was filed.

Interesting take on retail vs. broker. On average a broker saves you over $9000 in cost and points on a new loan. BE CAREFUL with retail shops. A broker can shop your loan several places with one credit pull. BETTER RATES, BETTER PROGRAMS and LOWER COST. Brokers truly are BETTER!!!
