Here are some good steps to consider in trying to protect yourself and others.

Practice Heat Safety Wherever You Are!

Whether you're on the job, in your car, indoors, or outside, it’s important to keep heat safety at the top of your mind!

👷 Job Sites: Listen to your body and follow a set schedule for hydration and rest to prevent heat-related illness.
🚗 Vehicles: Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle. Temperatures can rise dangerously fast, even if the windows are cracked.
⛅️ Indoors: Regularly check on elderly neighbors, the sick, and those living alone to make sure they're staying cool and safe.
🌳 Outdoors: When possible, plan your day to avoid being outside for prolonged periods between 3 PM and 5 PM.

No matter where you are, stay alert, stay cool, and don’t underestimate the heat!

Before you attend Fireworks Over Florence, here is some important event information to know.
•Fireworks Over Florence, presented by MUSC Health Florence Medical Center, is Saturday, July 4th at the 3701 W. Palmetto Street at the Florence Soccer Complex.
• The event includes:
---A Kids Fun Zone from 5pm to 8pm, which includes free Kona Ice to the first 100 kids
---Food trucks, Pepsi trailers, alcohol sales
---Live music: the Analog Saints 5pm
---Live music: the Tru Sol Band 7pm & 8:30pm (break in-between)
---250th Tribute 8pm
---Drone Show 9pm
---Fireworks approximately 9:45pm
• It is completely FREE. You can buy food and drinks from vendors.
• Please carpool if possible.
• Also, please note these rules:
No pets, tents, coolers, weapons, bikes or scooters, fireworks/firecrackers, or outside food or beverages
Clear bags only - No backpacks
Children under 18 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT while inside the event grounds. Children and teens may not be dropped off at the event.
• Parking opens at 4pm and the gates at 5pm.
To park, drive in on West Palmetto Street and turn in at the intersection/light at the Soccer Complex. Once turned in, follow the signs and prompts from traffic staff.
If the parking lot fills up, people will be asked to park at Sneed Middle School at 1102 S. Ebenezer Road. People can park there at any time, but the soccer parking is closer if available.
• There will be a PDRTA shuttle between Sneed and the soccer facility. The shuttles will run from 5pm-11:30pm and they are ADA accessible.
• Keep an eye out for pedestrians inside and near the parking areas!
• Handicapped spots will be available but will be first-come, first-serve. Also please make sure your handicapped parking placards are clearly visible.
• ALERTS: If crucial information needs to be shared about the weather or other events, we will post information on social media. We may also initiate our alert system at the facility. Onsite staff will provide information as well.
• Our event will cool off at night but still prepare for heat. Stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and stop by our on-site cooling station if you feel overheated.
• Remember, this is about fun, family and community on our nation’s 250th anniversary. Please be respectful of others trying to have a great time celebrating the Fourth of July.

A Great Reminder !!!

Stop before you drop your insurance.

If you're selling a vehicle or no longer driving it, please don't cancel the insurance before decommissioning the plate because the fine for not having insurance is $5 a day.

Plates can be decommissioned online at https://dmv.sc.gov/vehicle-owners/registration/license-plate-return

Be Aware of this SCAM !!

This is a reminder to remain vigilant when it comes to "Unpaid Ticket" and "Toll Violation" scam texts, as there has been an uptick in activity recently!

Please remember that SCDMV does not send texts to collect on unpaid tickets or tolls.

The only legitimate webpage is www.dmv.sc.gov; don't let a fake text redirect you or your money elsewhere.
