This was a special moment for our community as our CEO, Dr. Dorn Smith and his family proudly attended the ground breaking ceremony for the new library in Turbeville. The library will be named for Dr. Kate Smith who practiced medicine in Turbeville for over 50 years as the town’s sole practitioner and who Governor McMaster awarded the Order of Palmetto for her service to her community and her state. The values of caring for our roots, giving back and putting people first are values that not only Dr. Kate had, but those principles are still thriving in our bank today.

🚨SCAM ALERT🚨

We want to make you aware of a recent scam attempt impacting some customers.

A fraudster sent a text message posing as our fraud department, followed by a phone call that "spoofed" the bank’s main number (843-657-2001).

What Does “Spoofing” Mean?
Spoofing is when scammers fake the caller ID so it looks like the call is coming from a trusted number—like your bank.

Even if the number looks correct, it does NOT mean the call is legitimate.

What Banks Will NEVER Ask You:
• Open a link from a text
• Ask you to keep transactions secret
• Request personal information like PINs, passwords, account numbers, Social Security Numbers, etc.
• Move money to another account remotely “for protection”
• Send money via wire, gift cards, or apps to stop fraud

How to Protect Yourself
• Do NOT click links
• Do NOT respond to unknown texts with personal or account information
• Do NOT trust caller ID alone
• If you receive a suspicious call or text:
o Hang up immediately
o Call your branch directly using the number on our website or your statement

When in Doubt—Call Us
If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts.

Fraudsters create urgency and fear.
Your bank will always give you time to verify and make safe decisions.
