We’re so proud to highlight Jill Black, who’s been doing some incredible things for first year teachers!

Jill works at Michigan State University and in the summer she picks up extra jobs scoring baseball and softball games, then turns every bit of that money into tons of school supplies for one lucky new teacher in Michigan. Markers, books, backpacks… you name it.

She’s been doing this for 16 years now. She even picks the teacher with a fun Battleship style map so a different county and a different classroom get the help each time. This year it went to a brand new 2nd grade teacher in Battle Creek - Tanner Walsh.

Mark met up with Jill, donated to the cause, and we are happy to share some pictures!

We had a great time co-sponsoring the annual back to school breakfast in Imlay City!

We always love visiting Imlay. A great community and school district where Mark taught and coached for many years. So many familiar faces and awesome people to catch up with.

Thank you to all of the outstanding staff and everyone who makes Imlay City great! The school and performing arts center all look fantastic.

We had to take a look and some pictures of Mark’s 2008 Baseball Division 2 Champion trophy, as well! What a team.

We had a great time at the 10th annual Fore Education Meemic Foundation golf outing yesterday! Pam Harlin, Director of the Foundation, and her awesome staff always put on a terrific event here at Indianwood Country Club in Lake Orion.

We had the pleasure of talking with some Michigan Teacher of the Year winners who were in attendance and golfed. Pictured with Mark are Erik Meerschaert, Michigan’s Teacher of the Year for 2026-2027 from Lake Orion High School; Amanda Bush, Michigan’s Region 6 Teacher of the Year for 2026-2027 from Dansville Elementary; and Owen Bondono, Michigan’s Teacher of the Year for 2020-2021 from Oak Park High School. Congratulations and thank you for all of your passion and hard work. It was great meeting everyone!

Again, a huge thank you to Pam Harlin for everything she does for the Meemic Foundation and for all of our awesome teachers across Michigan.

We had a great time sponsoring the annual Davison School’s end of year lunch and awards ceremony! The end of the year energy is always on full display. We love it.

Congratulations and thank you to all of the award winners, retirees, and everyone who made this past year such a great one.

A special shout out to superintendent Matthew Lobban, President of the Davison Board of Education Holly Halabicky, and rock star Michelle Edwards - who are pictured together with Mark.

A big congratulations to Mr. Jeff Nagy! Jeff was one of 10 total winners in the Meemic Insurance $10,000 All-Star Teachers Sweepstakes - winning $500 for his classroom and $500 for Linden High School! We were very happy to be able to present him the check.

Jeff wears many hats for Linden and his students but one incredible thing we’d like to highlight is his work and creation of Stats Day - partnering with the Tigers and Detroit sports. As an AP Statistics teacher he turned classroom work into something extremely hands on and practical.

Jeff, his Linden students, and over 1,000 other students from 8 schools all participated in Stats Day 2026. The group of them got to sit in at Comerica Park and Little Caesars Arena to a panel of Detroit Tigers staff and others sharing how data and analytics drive decisions across the baseball and sports industry.

Thank you for the dedication and hard work in everything, Jeff! You are appreciated!

We had three winners of the Meemic Foundation’s Teacher Appreciation Kit grant which included a “I’m a Proud Michigan Educator” lunch box, tumbler, and a Dr Suess’s “Oh What I’ve Learned Thanks to my Teachers” book!

Our first stop was to Clio High School to see principal Scott Williams and soon to be principal, Rachel Traver! Scott is retiring this year and Rachel will be the full time principal going forward. Congratulations to both!

Shannon Edwards of Kreeger Elementary in Fowlerville and Jayna Vineyard of Bentley High School were our next two winners and it was great seeing them both again. Have an incredible summer break! 😎
