FLINT, MI – A $12 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration will allow the Flint Mass Transportation Authority to expand service routes and upgrade buses and facilities. The grant totaling $11,969,176 was announced on Thursday, May 8, by U.S. Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet (D-Bay City).

Flint MTA General Manager Ed Benning said the funds couldn’t have come at a better time for the organization.

From March 24 until April 26, contractors will replace a modular joint over Pier 34 and repair and repave the southbound lanes of the north viaduct. The southbound side of the bridge will be closed. One lane will be open in each direction on the northbound side of the bridge.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority is resuming work repave portions of the Mackinac Bridge's north end.
