I felt connected to this quote so much, that Charlene and I found a way to encompass it. The connection to me was so strong, I had to have it somewhere that I, as well as my clients, could see it.

Today marks my 6th anniversary with Farm Bureau, and as I think of the lives we've changed, the families we've helped, and the ways we've protected people, I'm ever so thankful for the opportunities that you all have given us to be there for you. To help you face the risks head on. It's what we do. And we should be doing it for all of you.

So in honor of this 6th anniversary, I'm asking for 6 of my people to allow me to review their current insurance programs. If you're not with us yet, but have considered it, what's stopping you? Do you have an agent, or do you have a trusted advisor? Do you have someone to face the risks with when you need it the most? I'm only asking for a chance to show you what we can do. Who are my six?

With so many of our clients affected by these power outages, here are a few reminders and tips that we hope will help as we all deal with this tough time:

• Additional Living Expenses and Hotel Expenses are NOT available or covered unless there is direct damage to the home that makes it unlivable. Lack of power alone does not trigger coverage.
• In general, unopened refrigerators will keep their food good for at least 24 hours and stand alone freezers 48-72 hours. The key is to not open the door.
• If the electrical service line is down from the power/telephone pole to the house (electrical mast) this belongs to the insured/property owner and you need to call an electrician ASAP. Do not wait for the power company. Get it fixed now!
• If temps go below freezing and you are on city water, you should allow the faucets to drip to avoid freezing. If you are on a well, you should turn on some faucets to relieve the pressure in the water lines and turn off the well pump until the power is restored. This will help avoid frozen pipes and the resulting water damage.

After the loss of a young lady very close to my family, as well as my Brittany's family, I can't help but post this. A family, stricken with grief, had to ask for help to provide a service worthy of their young daughter in her passing. No family should ever go through this, let alone have to rely on others to help with the financial worries after something so tragic.

I'm begging you, please, set up life insurance plan for your children. Even a small one. We hope you never need it, but if you do, we're here for you. They're cheap now, while they're young. Let's have the conversation today.
