At High Plains Bank, we say we are more than just a place for transactions, we are all about relationships. When our neighbors face a challenge, we don’t just look at credit scores and a checklist to make a decision, we look at the human beings behind the numbers. That's what we call Craft Banking and Compassionate Problem Solving.
Recently, a standard inquiry turned into a beautiful reminder of what happens when banking teams refuse to give up on the people they serve.
The story began when our dedicated team members, Jackie and Rose were working with customers Alvin and Kay. The Longmont couple was facing a stressful situation: their home was in desperate need of repairs, but traditional loan options were not a viable path forward. Refusing to let a closed door be the final answer, Jackie asked Rose a simple but powerful question: “If we can’t fund this, how else can we take care of them?”
This is where the true power of collaboration comes alive at High Plains Bank. Rose took up the baton, diving deep into local community networks to find a lifeline. Her search led her to the City of Longmont Housing Rehabilitation Assistance program, which partners with Brothers Development, Inc. to help residents secure vital home repairs.
Finding a program is one thing, but navigating the application process can be overwhelming. Rose didn’t just hand them a phone number. She stood right beside them, helping Alvin and Kay decipher the questions, fill out the forms, and successfully submit their request.
Because of the teamwork between Jackie Jarnagin and Rose, Alvin and Kay qualified for a comprehensive home transformation, not just a quick fix. The program approved an incredible list of upgrades to ensure they can live safely and comfortably in their home for years to come, including safety, mobility, efficiency and aesthetic upgrades,
The joy was evident when Alvin called the bank, brimming with excitement as he shared the good news. In a heartwarming email to Rose, Jackie captured the essence of why we do what we do:
"Alvin called today to tell me about all the different programs they qualified for... I told him to keep the updates coming, as it is so nice to hear what help they were able to get. I can't thank you enough for providing them with the resources to improve their living situation."
For Alvin and Kay, the updates mean a safer, warmer, and brighter home. For High Plains Bank, it’s a proud testament to our culture and commitment to our customers. When you walk into any of our branches, you aren’t just interacting with an isolated office, you are tapping into an entire network of people who genuinely care about you and live our core values.
Thank you, Jackie and Rose, for proving that going above and beyond isn't just extra work.
It's the High Plains Bank way!
