It was my pleasure to honor Molly-Kate Firestine with the 2026 Shelter Insurance Foundation Scholarship for Findlay High School last evening. She will do great things and will undoubtedly pay it forward to the community in the future. Congrats to Molly as she prepares to join the freshman class at the U of F!

It was my pleasure to award the dedication of a special individual in Lashay King with the Shelter Insurance Foundation scholarship this evening. I know her future is bright as she moves on to Kaplan University to work towards her legal degree!

Back in 2007, I was fortunate enough to be in a position to help around Findlay during the flood. I walked around dropping off ci******es to friends who were completely surrounded by water, and even rode in the bed of a city truck helping pull people in who had swum out to us. One moment that’s always stuck with me was a couple and their dog swimming from a window near Sandusky Street to reach the truck. I still remember what the city looked like. Main Street lined with piles of people’s belongings, everything soaked and ruined. If you’re in Findlay, are you closer to the Blanchard River or Eagle Creek? If not, are you still dealing with water outside your home, or worse, in your basement damaging things you’ve worked hard for?

Similar to the wonderful gigantic pothole on Findlay Street, directly on the far side of the first set of train tracks in Fostoria…that catwalk looks great though…
