A friendly reminder to check batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and also checking the charge and condition of your fire extinguishers. Now would also be a good time to check if the furnace filter needs replacing.

It is fire awareness month. Please replace outdated Fire and Carbon monoxide detectors as well as replacing batteries that are low. Maintain alarms by testing them regularly, changing the batteries every 6 months and replacing alarms at least every 10 years. Also check your fire extinguishers to make sure they are able to be used if needed. Remember the acronym PASS:

Pull the pin.
Aim low at the base of the fire.
Squeeze the handle slowly.
Sweep the nozzle side to side.

These are easy steps to make sure that these first lines of safety are up to date.
