Just like last year on April 18th, our area was hit with severe weather which included large hail. As a reminder, when this happens, there will be a multitude of contractors flooding the area offering their services. All I can say is please be careful of what you sign when they knock on your doors. Most of these contractors are not local and as we have seen in the past, aren’t around if you have future problems. Please be confident in the contractor that you are hiring to provide you with the repairs to your property. And as usual, we always suggest using trusted local contractors who you know will be here when you have future issues. It is also your choice of who you use. But please be careful what you sign. Sometimes they want to control your claim and the process and will also charge for this service. I hope everyone is safe from these storms.

Brechler Insurance Holiday Hours:

- Wednesday December 24th - 8:00a.m. to 12:00p.m.
- Thursday December 25th - Closed
- Friday December 26th - Closed (all of our companies are closed)
- Wednesday December 31st - 8:00a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Thursday January 1st - Closed
- Friday January 2nd - Closed (our companies are closed)

On the days that we are closed, you can still call the office number and you will reach Steve's cell phone by choosing the appropriate number. He will have the ability to answer questions and take payments and bind coverages during this time, as we know that the holidays lead to new purchases. We have chosen to close on the 26th and 2nd so that our employees can spend more time with their loved ones this holiday season, knowing that most of the insurance companies have already chosen to close those days. But please remember, we are still available those days.

I will preface this with the message that I was asked to not share ANY pictures or have any fanfare for the retirement of Shelly Stepanek, specifically requested by Shelly herself. I teetered with hand drawing a portrait of Shelly, and using that, but instead, I'll just use the stock photo of her on a day she basically refused to have her picture taken.

This week ends a 15 yr journey for Shelly with our agency (almost 30 overall) as an agent. Shelly has been a wonderful employee, friend, and basically a family member here throughout her years. She has been a coverage guru, and has always looked out for the best for our customers. You may not know it, but Shelly is pretty quick witted, which is probably why she has fit in so great here over the years.

Shelly made the choice a year ago, to go down to 2 days a week, as she prepared for the end of her insurance journey. So, her last two days in our office are Wednesday and Thursday. She doesn't want any fanfare, she doesn't want to be recognized and she hates attention. So I "promised" we wouldn't do anything to commemorate her time in our agency. So instead of listening to her request, we will be having a cake (while supplies last) and some beverages here in our office, if you'd like to stop in and wish her well on THURSDAY. Nothing special, just a little something to share with everyone.

Shelly will truly be missed as she brought a lot of knowledge about the industry and coverages to our office, but I know that she will truly be happy spending time with her friends and family. Hey, maybe she hops on a lawnmower to get into the "family business," who knows. But honestly, Shelly is a huge part of this family, and will truly be missed. We wish Shelly only the best as she enjoys her much deserved retirement. Thank you for all you have done for our agency.

A day of posts. We’d like to FORMALLY announce that we have a new licensed agent in our office. Congrats to Adam Larson on passing all of his tests. He is now licensed in P&C and Life&Health. At our agency Adam will be focusing on Personal Lines and also continuing to write life insurance. So if you are friends with Adam or would like Adam to give you some quotes on your insurance, please give him a call at 608-822-6111. And again congratulations to Adam on becoming a licensed agent.

Being around since 1929, we have the honor of having partnerships with our companies that date back a very long ways, and some who have been doing business with us since my great grandfather Leo Brechler started our agency back in 1929. On October 28, 1930, Leo signed a contract with Mutual Auto Insurance Company of the Town of Herman. Some of you are probably saying who? In 1957 this company became Heritage Mutual Insurance Company. As a kid I remember seeing the Heritage banks everywhere but I think those probably closed around 2001 when Heritage changed to what you now know as ACUITY Insurance.

This year, ACUITY is celebrating it's 100th year in business and we are very proud to have a strong agency partnership with ACUITY. As you can probably imagine, our 95th year now with ACUITY is the longest agency partnership we have. At our agency, we save all of the company plaques as a reminder of all of the companies we have worked with in our 96 years. I Thought I would dust off the old Heritage sign from the back wall for the photo of the plaques. Congrats to ACUITY Insurance on their 100th anniversary. We look forward to working with you for many more and can't wait until we celebrate our 100th year with you in 2030.

We would like to welcome the newest member of our agency, Adam Larson. Many of you in the area are familiar with Adam, a 2021 graduate of Fennimore High School. Adam is already licensed in life and health and we will get him up to speed on P&C as quickly as we can. We also needed to raise the median height in our office 🙂. We look forward to having Adam working with us here and believe he will be a valuable asset to our team.

With this morning's hail event in SW Wisconsin and beyond, just a friendly reminder that there will be people from all over the country swinging through the affected area, some claiming to be local whom you've never heard of, asking to take a look at your roof or siding, stating you probably have damage. What may sound like a good idea isn't always the case. As a reminder, please be careful what you sign (please don't just randomly sign a sheet of paper they hand you) when these companies come knocking at your door. Some will be here just for this storm, and you'll never hear from them or see them again. We always suggest to look to local contractors, ones who you know and trust, and whom you know will be around after the project is complete, to check for damage or do your repairs. As always, you have the freedom of choice to choose who does your repairs of your damage. This is just a friendly reminder.

Each year I allow the staff to wear jeans on Friday's for a donation to a local charity. At the end of the year, we decide on where that donation will go. This year we have decided to make two donations, both to local groups who don't always get the appreciation they deserve. Our 2024 donations were made to the Fennimore Police Department and to the Fennimore Area Rescue Squad for keeping us safe and taking care of us when we are at our most vulnerable. Thank you for all that you do. We appreciate you.

As I sit here this morning, finishing up a couple things before our family celebrates Christmas, I am looking back at the past year, and am truly blessed and thankful for our wonderful staff here and all of our customers. From my family to yours, please have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Wherever your travels take you for the holidays, please be safe, stay warm, and hold your loved ones a little closer. Enjoy the time that you get to share with them, and cherish the memories you make.
