With the increase of pedestrians killed in traffic crashes on the rise, what can you do to reduce your risks?

➡️ Be predictable.

➡️ Follow the rules of the road and obey signs and signals.

➡️ Walk on sidewalks and crosswalks whenever possible.

➡️ If there is no sidewalk, walk facing traffic and as far from traffic as possible.

➡️ Avoid distraction by electronic devices that take your eyes and ears off the road.

➡️ Look for vehicles in all directions.

➡️ Wait patiently for a gap in traffic that allows enough time to cross safely.

➡️ Make eye contact with drivers as they approach to make sure you are seen.

➡️ Wear bright clothing during the day, and wear reflective materials or use a flashlight at night.

➡️ Watch for cars entering or exiting driveways, or backing up in parking lots.

It seems simple, yet in 2019, walking and texting caused more than 11,000 injuries last year, and led to over 5,000 pedestrian deaths.

While mixing ingredients is common when cooking, it can be downright dangerous with it comes to mixing cleaning products. 🚫

⚠️ Here are some of the most dangerous combinations that people are likely to create accidentally:

❌ Bleach and ammonia - It can irritate your eyes and nose, as well as cause breathing problems.

❌ Bleach and vinegar - Mixing bleach with any type of acid, including vinegar, can cause toxic chemicals to form, which can irritate the eyes, nose, and throat.

❌ Bleach and rubbing alcohol - This can impact the nervous system and heart, and it can be fatal.

❌ Bleach and Acetone - Also dangerous.

Use cleaning products according to the directions on their labels and don’t mix them

🔨 While most home-repair contractors are honest and provide quality work, how can you protect yourself when having work done to your home?😳

✴️ Work only with established contractors who are licensed, bonded, and insured.

✴️ Require references.

✴️ Check with your local Better Business Bureau to see if any complaints have been filed against contractors you are considering.

✴️ Avoid payment-in-full upfront.

✴️ Never let work begin until the contract is finalized.

✴️ Don’t sign a completion certificate until the job is completed and you are satisfied.

Getting in a hurry isn't worth the potential grief!

When you're in public, let's face it, sometimes you just need to borrow a pen. ✒️

That's fine, but be sure to sanitize or wash your hands after using it.

According to experts, the average office pen has ten times the germs of the average office toilet seat, at approximately 200 bacteria per square inch. 😳

Remember that the next time you see someone chewing on a pen cap.

Your best defense is to carry your own pen so that you don't have to borrow one.

It only takes a few minutes for a dog to suffer from the effects of heatstroke if left inside an overheated vehicle.

Why is this?

Unlike humans, dogs do not sweat.

Instead, they cool themselves mainly by panting.

So, when they are left inside of a parked vehicle that can reach 100°F in just minutes, panting alone isn't enough for your dog to escape the heat, even when in the shade.

While few things are more exciting for dogs than a ride in a vehicle, even on seemingly mild days, an enclosed vehicle can be deadly.

This is the time of year to be extra aware!
