When I reflect on my journey, it feels like a whirlwind of challenges, determination, and ultimately, triumph. As a single mother of three young children, recently divorced and struggling with my weight, I found myself at a crossroads in Savannah, Georgia. I knew deep down that I needed a change, a fresh start that would lead me to the life I dreamed of for myself and my children.
With a brave heart and a flicker of hope, I made the bold decision to leave Savannah behind and move to a rural town in Jefferson County, Mississippi. The transition was tough, filled with uncertainty and moments of doubt, but I refused to let fear hold me back. I was determined to carve out a better future, one filled with abundance, health, and happiness.
Starting over wasn't easy. I poured my heart and soul into building a home-based business, determined to create financial stability for my family. But as I worked to build my own dreams, I couldn't ignore the struggles I saw in my community, particularly the issue of childhood obesity, especially among African American youth.
It was then that I realized my journey wasn't just about me—it was about making a difference in the lives of others. With unwavering determination, I founded a grassroots nonprofit organization with a mission to eradicate the health disparity of childhood obesity. Through tireless dedication and boundless compassion, I led the charge in creating change from the ground up.
Today, I am humbled to serve as the executive director of an award-winning nonprofit, leading the fight against childhood obesity and empowering youth to live healthier, happier lives. My journey from a struggling single mother to a catalyst for change is a testament to the power of resilience, determination, and unwavering belief in oneself.
As I continue on this path, I am reminded that every obstacle I faced was simply a stepping stone on the journey to greatness. And while the road ahead may be challenging, I face it with courage, knowing that I have the power to make a difference, not just in my own life, but in the lives of countless others.
This is my story—a story of transformation, empowerment, and the relentless pursuit of a brighter future for all.
