There’s a big difference between preparing taxes and actually planning for them.

Brian Beck, our President and CFO, recently joined Steven Jarvis on the Retirement Tax Services Podcast to talk about what proactive tax planning can look like when it’s integrated into a client’s overall financial plan.

That’s why we believe tax planning shouldn’t happen once a year in April. It should be part of the financial planning conversation all year long.

It’s looking ahead, identifying opportunities, and making financial decisions today with an understanding of how they could impact your taxes tomorrow.

Thanks Steven and the Retirement Tax Services team for having Brian on!

Connecticut residents reporting $1M+ of income represented only about 1.1% of resident tax returns—but generated nearly 35% of the state income tax reported by residents.

When markets and high-end incomes rise, Connecticut can benefit tremendously. But it also means state revenue becomes increasingly sensitive to market performance.

And when it comes to the debate over whether wealthy residents are staying or leaving Connecticut, the reality is more nuanced than either headline suggests.

Thank you to Jordan Fenster and CT Insider for including my perspective.

A company beats earnings. The stock falls.
Another misses expectations. The stock rallies.
One headline can move billions of dollars in minutes.

The biggest advantage most investors have isn’t predicting the next earnings surprise.

Dan is sitting with 30+ years of experience.

Jake is 28 and spent his early career in a very different financial world.

So we decided to debate it in the newest episode of The True Success Podcast: “Does the Age of Your Financial Advisor Matter?” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3Y5g6kzCEI

The case for the veteran:
30 years of market cycles, tax-law changes, client mistakes, and real-world experience you simply can’t learn from a textbook.

The case for the next generation:
Fresh thinking, new technology, evolving strategies, and the runway to potentially advise a family for the next 40+ years.

Coordinated advice was once largely reserved for family offices serving the ultra-wealthy. Today, it’s becoming essential for “middle-class millionaires” who want to minimize lifetime taxes, protect their wealth, and make smarter financial decisions.

When wealth managers, CPAs, attorneys, bankers, and insurance professionals work together, everyone wins—especially the client.

The result? Better advice. Fewer complications. More time and money. And more freedom to live the life they’ve worked so hard to build.

In Dan's latest article for Advisor Perspectives, he explain why the future of serving affluent families is partnerships, not silos—and what that model looks like in practice.

What’s the point of leaving your kids an inheritance at 60… if they need the help at 30?

The Beatles told us money can’t buy love. Fair enough.

But it can help buy a first home. Fund a business. Pay for education. Or simply give your adult children some breathing room at a stage of life when the economics are increasingly stacked against them.

In Dan's latest article for Investing.com, he explores the “Bank of Mom and Dad”—and why helping your adult children doesn’t necessarily mean jeopardizing your own retirement. https://www.investing.com/members/contributors/271233998/opinion

From gifting appreciated assets to intra-family loans and creative Social Security strategies, there may be more options than you think.

If your own financial security is protected, money given at the right time can have a far greater impact than money inherited decades later.
