Community parades can be an awesome way to get your gym involved locally and show up for the people who support your business.⚡😎

But before you throw members on a float, hand out shirts, or start planning workouts in the street… make sure you understand the liability involved.

We’re not saying don’t participate. We’re saying ask questions first.

Events outside your facility can create different exposures than your normal day-to-day operations, and it’s always better to understand where your coverage stands before signing up.

Answer: It depends.

A lot of carriers won’t insure gyms operating in a residence, garage gym, or separate structure tied to the same home address because they can’t properly separate the liability connected to the home itself.

Now, if the gym is located under apartments or condos and has its own separate address, that can sometimes work differently. But even then, there are still important things to think through, like staffing, member access, and whether the facility operates 24/7.

These setups can get complicated quickly, so it’s always worth asking questions before assuming you’re covered.
