I buy and sell a decent amount on fb marketplace and always make it a point to leave a card with people I do business with after we meet up.

I got a text at 213am today from someone who was already in process with another mortgage company and is supposed to be closing today. She remembered our convo and reached out in a panic. Surprised that I responded she explaoned what was happening.

She didn't know where closing was, how much money she needed to bring, and has not and any contact from realtors, title agents, or her mortgage company. It was keeping her up and I couldn't imagine the stress she was feeling.

I've had a couple loans take some sideways turns right before closing but I was always on top of communication to the clients and agents involved. I know I have a decent amount of friends here that are in the business so I'm hoping it wasn't one of you, but I'm curious, has anyone else experienced this sort of thing whether it be from the buying/selling side or as a loan officer?

While there's no universal answer to this timeless question, we recommend a financial check-up at least once a year. Refinancing for a lower rate almost always makes sense, but there is so much more your house can do for you than just be a bill that you pay on the 1st.
