I am thrilled to announce that I have earned my CFP® designation — a milestone that means more than just a certificate on the wall.

I’m not sure that I can find the words to sum up exactly what the process looked like. It required hundreds of hours of intense preparation: late nights with my nose buried in a textbook, early mornings reviewing practice questions, and weekends devoted to tax strategies, retirement planning, and ethics scenarios. There were moments of doubt, exhaustion, and lots of temptations to step away. But every time I felt overwhelmed, I reminded myself why I started — it wasn’t about passing a test; it was about working to become the advisor my clients and future clients deserve.

One of my mentors once shared that in order to pass this exam, I first needed to understand my “why.” While I was motivated to excel, to build my reputation as a capable advisor, and to deepen my knowledge of financial planning, I eventually discovered that my purpose ran much deeper. At its core, my “why” was rooted in a personal commitment: I needed to master this for myself so that I knew I could show up fully for the individuals who placed their trust in me. I recognized that I had a responsibility to become a reliable, knowledgeable resource for my community. Financial decisions touch people’s lives in profoundly personal ways—often during their most vulnerable moments. I wanted to develop the confidence and competence to guide those conversations with care, clarity, and integrity.

Today, holding this piece of paper in my hands feels like something truly meaningful. It is my promise — to my current clients, to future clients, and to myself — that I will continue to show up with integrity, knowledge, and an unwavering commitment. If you are considering your own financial future, know that I am here, fully equipped and deeply motivated, to walk that path with you. Here’s to growth and building brighter futures together.

Albert Einstein once dubbed compounding the 8th wonder of the world. “He who understands it, earns it...he who doesn’t, pays it.” Here’s a simple example that shows why time is, literally, money.

How long you're invested matters much more than how much you've invested.

Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the day to day chaos… trying to keep up with tasks, current events, a schedule that can change on the fly, and 100 other different things. Today was one of those chaotic days, but in a good way.

I stayed at the office a couple hours later than usual and as I was winding down I realized it was June 5, my “workiversary”… a date I’ll never forget.

On June 5, 2023, I started my career with Edward Jones. I really wasn’t sure what to expect. I was nervous. I knew I’d be starting a new job, studying for the Series 7 and Series 66 on my way to becoming a financial advisor, but outside of that, I had no idea what laid in front of me. A part of me wishes I could go back two years ago and tell myself a million different things I could have or should done differently, but then I wouldn’t have learned. I’d tell myself to trust the process, to embrace the uncertainty, and to lean into the discomfort of growth. I’d say, “You’re going to stumble, make mistakes, and feel overwhelmed at times, but every challenge is a lesson, and every client interaction is a chance to make a real difference.” Looking back, I’ve learned that being a financial advisor isn’t just about numbers—it’s about building relationships, understanding dreams, and helping people navigate life’s big moments with confidence.

Today, as I sat at my desk reflecting on these two years, I thought about the clients who’ve trusted me with their financial futures. From young couples saving for their first home to retirees planning their legacy, each story has taught me something new—patience, empathy, and the value of clear communication. I’ve learned that no two clients are the same, and tailoring advice to fit their unique needs is both an art and a science.

As I locked up the office and got in my vehicle this evening, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. The chaos of today, the late hours, the early mornings—they’re all worth it because of the people I get to serve. To my clients, thank you for trusting me, for sharing your goals, and for teaching me just as much as I hope I’ve helped you. Here’s to the lessons of the past two years and the many more to come on this incredible journey.

(I don’t have a picture of myself at work, but here’s a picture of our team from a recent event)

Have you ever heard of the Rule of 72?

💰 Ever wondered how long it takes for your savings or investments to *double*? Enter the **Rule of 72**, a simple trick to estimate it! Here’s the scoop:

1️⃣ What is it? The Rule of 72 is a quick formula to figure out how many years it takes for your money to double with *compound growth*. Just divide 72 by your annual interest rate (or expected return rate).

72 ÷ Interest Rate = Years to Double

2️⃣ Example: Got $1,000 in a savings account earning 6% annually? 72 ÷ 6 = **12 years**. In about 12 years, your $1,000 could grow to $2,000, thanks to the magic of compounding!

3️⃣ Why it works: Compound growth means you earn interest not just on your initial money but also on the interest it accumulates. Over time, this creates an *exponential* snowball effect.

4️⃣ Pro Tip: The higher the interest rate, the faster your money doubles! At 8%, it takes 72 ÷ 8 = **9 years**. But at 2%? A sluggish 36 years.

5️⃣ Beware of below average interest rates: The same way your money will compound quickly with a higher interest rate, it can take years longer if interest rates are below average (See #4). Some banks pay 1% or less in interest! Make sure you evaluate your options to make your money work for you.

If you’d like to learn more about compound growth and options for your money, give me a call today at (318) 368-9000 or shoot me a message!

***The Rule of 72 is an estimate and should not be used for a perfect indicator for compound growth***

“A good plan is better than a bad prediction.”

Market volatility can be a nerve-racking experience for even the most seasoned investors. Periods of high market volatility and economic uncertainty are nothing new, but it’s important to remember during turbulent times like these to focus on what you can control rather than the things you can’t (e.g. market fluctuations, the economy, and political climate).

If you’re concerned about your financial picture, give me a call and I’d be happy to help any way I can. You can reach me at (318) 368-9000.
