πŸ“‰ Good morning, everyone! Here's your market check for Friday, September 4, 2026 β€” and it's a turnaround from where things started.

Futures pointed higher early, but stocks flipped lower once trading got underway. The Dow is down about 0.3% (around 170 points), the S&P 500 is edging lower, and the Nasdaq is hovering near flat.

The culprit? That surprisingly strong August jobs report. The economy added 162,000 jobs β€” well above the 55,000 forecast β€” with unemployment steady at 4.1%. Great news for workers, but it's pushed the Fed's focus back toward fighting inflation, which cooled the market's earlier optimism. 🏦

So the mood has shifted from "rally" to "wait and see" as investors reset expectations for the Fed's next meeting.

How are you feeling about the market today? Feel free to leave a comment below!πŸ‘‡

πŸ“‰ Good morning! Here's your market snapshot before the opening bell β€” Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

Futures are pointing lower this morning ⬇ , with S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures both in the red (tech and chip names taking the hardest hit). The big story: renewed U.S.–Iran tensions near the Strait of Hormuz have pushed oil sharply higher β€” Brent is trading close to $95 a barrel. On top of that, the 10-year Treasury yield jumped to about 4.81%, its highest level since late 2023, which tends to put pressure on stocks.

It's also a busy data day: the ADP jobs report, JOLTS job openings, and the Fed's Beige Book all land today β€” a warm-up act for Friday's big monthly jobs report. πŸ‘€

What are you keeping an eye on today β€” oil, rates, or that Friday jobs number?

πŸ“Š Before the Bell β€” Monday, August 31, 2026

Good morning! Markets are starting the week a little cautious. Stock futures are slightly lower across the board β€” the Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq are all hovering just below the flatline as traders react to weekend headlines.

The big story? Oil. β›½ Prices surged more than 3% after U.S. forces struck Iranian rocket launchers near the Strait of Hormuz, reigniting tensions in the region. WTI crude is now near $86 and Brent has topped $90. Energy names are catching a bid because of it β€” Chevron, Exxon, Halliburton, and Valero are all higher in pre-market trading.

Zoom out, though, and August has been a strong month: the S&P is up about 3% and the Nasdaq about 4%, while the Dow eyes its fifth straight monthly gain. πŸŽ‰

This week we're watching ISM manufacturing, and Friday's all-important jobs report ahead of the Fed's September meeting.

πŸ“ˆ Before the Bell β€” Friday, August 28, 2026

Good morning!🌞Markets are holding their breath this morning, with futures trading nearly flat: the Dow is ticking up a touch while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq drift slightly lower.

All eyes are on Jackson Hole today πŸ‘€, where new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh takes the stage β€” investors are hungry for any hint on where interest rates head next. Helping the mood: this morning's PCE inflation report came in a little cooler than expected at 2.2%, a welcome sign on prices.

πŸ› Single stocks are a mixed bag. Gap popped about 15% and Affirm jumped 13% on strong results, while PayPal slid roughly 14% after a buyout bid fell through and Marvell dipped on soft guidance.

πŸ“ˆ Before the Bell β€” Wednesday, August 26, 2026

Good morning! Markets are holding their breath this morning, with S&P 500, Dow, and Nasdaq futures trading roughly flat as everyone waits on a huge day of news.

Two big things are steering things today: fresh inflation data (the Fed's favorite gauge, PCE, plus a new GDP reading) drops this morning, and chip giant Nvidia reports earnings after the closing bell β€” a report Wall Street treats as a bellwether for the whole AI trade. On the movers front, Meta is getting attention after agreeing to a roughly $16.7B settlement, while oil slipped near $81 a barrel and gold is hovering close to recent highs.

All eyes are on those inflation numbers and Nvidia tonight. πŸ‘€ What are you watching today?

πŸ“‰ Before the Bell β€” Monday, August 24, 2026

Good morning! Markets are easing into a big week on a cautious note. Stock futures are slightly lower β€” the Dow is near flat, the S&P 500 is down about 0.2%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq is off around 0.7% after a down week.

Two headlines are steering things: the U.S. is rolling out new economic sanctions on Iran (more details expected this afternoon), and trade talks with Canada broke down over the weekend, bringing fresh tariffs. Long-term bond yields have also climbed to their highest since 2007, which tends to weigh on stocks.

All eyes now turn to Nvidia's earnings Wednesday and the Fed's Jackson Hole gathering β€” either could set the market's next direction. Gold is ticking up near $4,693/oz. πŸ’‘

πŸ“ˆ Good morning! Here's your market snapshot for Friday, August 21, 2026.

⬆ Futures are pointing higher this morning after a rough week β€” Dow futures are up about 0.6%, the S&P 500 around 0.4%, and the Nasdaq roughly 0.7%. A nice little bounce, though stocks are still on track to finish the week lower.

So what's going on? A bond sell-off pushed Treasury yields up (the 10-year is hovering near 4.71%), which has been squeezing big tech names all week. Meanwhile, Bitcoin is stealing the show β€” surging toward $77,000 for its best week in nearly three years! πŸš€

One bright spot before the open: Ross Stores jumped nearly 9% after raising its full-year outlook on strong sales.

What we're watching today: whether that early bounce holds into the opening bell. πŸ‘€

πŸ“ˆ Good morning, everyone! Here's your market snapshot for Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

Stocks are pointing to a higher open this morning, with S&P 500, Dow, and Nasdaq futures all up around half a percent. A boost from chipmakers is lifting the mood β€” names like Micron and Intel are climbing in pre-market trading. Moderna is the eye-popper of the morning, soaring on heavy volume, while software names like Workday and Shopify are slipping after analyst downgrades.

Two big things to watch today: the Federal Reserve releases its latest meeting minutes at 2 PM ET, which could hint at where interest rates head next, and a wave of retail earnings from Target, Lowe's, and TJX will tell us how the shopper is holding up. Oil is also creeping higher on Middle East tensions, with WTI near $84.

πŸ“ˆ Before the Bell β€” Friday, August 14, 2026

Good morning! Markets are taking a breather after a record-setting week. Stock futures are hovering right around flat this morning β€” Nasdaq is inching up, the Dow is a touch lower β€” as investors catch their breath following the S&P 500's first-ever close above 7,800 yesterday. πŸŽ‰

The big event today: the July retail sales report lands at 8:30am ET. It's the best read yet on whether shoppers are still spending, and it could nudge the odds of a Fed rate cut one way or the other. Cooler inflation this week has already lifted hopes.

A few names on the move: Reddit is jumping in pre-market, and Capricor Therapeutics is soaring on strong trial results. Gold is holding firm above $4,400 an ounce. ✨

What we're watching: does the consumer keep the good times rolling? Drop a comment with your take! πŸ‘‡
