Another great vacation using travel rewards. My mom and I spent a full week in Miami, Fort Myers, and Cape Coral for a whopping $600 per person. Nothing like free flights and accommodations. Best Easter meal ever on the boat!

As a teacher, I am constantly told about how valued my job is, yet how severely underpaid I am as well. While this is great in saving face and making me feel good, these words do not yield any actual monetary value in my bank account. Because of this, I am taking control of my own life and finances,...

Back at it with the Net Worth Wednesday!

Today my net worth sits at $30,344, which is due in large part to selling fireworks this summer, as well as transferring $6,000 from a random mutual fund account I had as a teen to Vanguard.

This is one of the most pivotal parts of you being able to become financially independent and being able to retire early. Find out what your company match is and at the very least, go up to that.

Think of it like gambling: you go to roulette and put $100 on red. Your company match is like wheel, but in this wheel every number is red, so you win every time!

Logistically, this also lowers your taxable income, so when the government goes to tax you on your $100 (but really it’s $200), instead all they see is $0 of “earned” income.

The most you can put into a 401(k) or 403(b) for 2020 is $19,500. See how close you can get!

Net Worth Wednesday: $16,544

In a couple weeks this number will drop like a rock, as I have to pay for my last two grad classes I’m taking this fall.

Net Worth Wednesday: $17,152

When you scroll through these you might notice how volatile stocks can be day to day.

Tip: don’t look at them. I was so excited to see I had made $800 in one day, only for my account to drop by $700 the very next day.

Think long term. Not weeks or months, but years. @ Moorhead, Minnesota
