The average rate for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage dropped to 6.27% for the week ending April 13, according to Freddie Mac's Primary Mortgage Market Survey. That's down from the previous week when it averaged 6.28%.

How about some good news?

Rates continue to rise: the average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage is 6.81, the average 15-year fixed-mortgage rate is 6.04 percent, and the average 5/1 ARM rate is 5.72 percent.

The Fed raised policy rates by 0.25% at their March meeting, while also confirming their confidence in the U.S. banking system. The Fed signaled some additional hikes may be appropriate before target inflation rates are realized.
