Condo owners, do you know where your HOA’s insurance ends and YOUR coverage begins?

Here’s the thing: your condo association’s master policy typically covers certain parts of the building and shared spaces, but it may not cover everything inside your individual unit.

Did you know that not all water damage is covered by your homeowners insurance?

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is assuming a standard homeowners policy covers flooding. In most cases, flood insurance is a separate policy, and you don’t have to live in a high-risk flood zone to experience flooding!

Understanding what your policy covers BEFORE something happens can make all the difference.

Home fire prevention is one of those things that’s easy to overlook until it matters.

As we head into colder months, take a few minutes to check your smoke detectors, keep space heaters and other heat sources clear, have fireplaces and chimneys inspected, and make sure everyone in your home knows what to do in an emergency.

It’s also a good time to review your homeowners insurance and make sure your coverage still fits your home and your needs.
