Paul Tudor Jones wants 5% in
"I like investing in something that is reliable, consistent, honest and 100% certain."
Paul Tudor Jones, American billionaire hedge fund manager, conservationist and philanthropist spoke about Bitcoin this morning on CNBC. He frames the Bitcoin investment as follows:
"Bitcoin is math. And math has been around for thousands of years. Two plus two is going to equal four and it will for the next 2,000 years."
It's all about certainty. Jones can be certain that Bitcoin will only ever have a supply of 21 million, whereas the dollar is being debased as rated never before seen.
Jones highlights the fixed, finite, and unchanging monetary policy of Bitcoin as compared to the current USD monetary system. The USD system has shown volatility, fragility, and consistent debasement of the monetary supply through money printing. We've begun to see the 2nd order effects of the Federal Reserve's actions lately in the recent CPI numbers showing that consumer inflation is the highest it has been since the global financial crisis.
When asked by his employees about portfolio allocation, PTJ stated the he knows for certain he wants to have 5% in Bitcoin.
Bitcoin can act as an insurance policy on the inherent fragility of the dollar system. You do not need to have 90% of your portfolio by any means, but it might make sense to have some just in case.
