Tackling a complex slope failure requires more than just a quick fix—it demands a field-fit engineered design and meticulous attention to detail during installation.

Jason and his team at Arbor Earth are bringing exactly that level of precision to this current slope stabilization project. They are installing multiple tiers of the Envirolok system, which will soon be planted with a resilient mix of native vegetation to provide deep-rooted, long-term stability.

Great job to the Arbor Earth crew for their outstanding work on this site! 👏

Stay tuned—we’ll be back soon to feature a full before-and-after video of this transformation.

Tough shorelines require smart solutions. Inland lakes in the midwest can be tricky. From relentless waves to winter ice, protecting your property shouldn’t mean sacrificing its natural beauty.

Enter the Envirolok Hybrid Shoreline System. 🌊🌱

By combining the heavy-duty defense of traditional hard armoring with our advanced bio-engineered bags, we create a living shoreline built to withstand the harshest elements.

Here is how the hybrid approach works:

🪨 The Base (Natural Stone Rip-Rap): Placed at the water's edge, this rock toe provides unbeatable strength and stability to absorb heavy wave action, resist deep scouring, and deflect destructive winter ice.

🌿 The Upper Bank (Envirolok): Installed above the high-water mark, our bio-engineered system takes over. Deep-rooting native plants grow through the bags to permanently lock the soil in place, transforming a rigid structure into a lush, living ecosystem.

The result? A natural, resilient, and eco-friendly shoreline that truly stands the test of time. You get the peace of mind of rock-solid protection, paired with the environmental benefits and beauty of a natural habitat.

The countdown is on! 🌊 In just a few days, the Envirolok team is heading over to Milwaukee for the ASFPM 50th Annual Conference, running May 31st through June 4th.

We are incredibly proud to be exhibiting at such a milestone event right in our own backyard. This year’s theme, The Fresh Coast Legacy: 50 Years of Floodplain Management, perfectly aligns with our mission to build resilient, sustainable environments.

If you're attending, make sure to stop by our booth! We’d love to talk with you about our hybrid approach to shorelines, slopes, and waterway stabilization. Come see how our bioengineered system works alongside native vegetation to provide permanent, deep-rooted structural integrity for your most challenging projects.

Let's build a lasting legacy together. See you on the Fresh Coast! 📍🌿

How does a vegetated wall actually hold back the earth? The secret is underground. 🌱👇
The Envirolok system isn't just about stacking soil bags—it's a complete bioengineered solution: 1️⃣ The Hardware: Interlocking spikes physically pin the bags together and anchor them to the slope for immediate stabilization. 2️⃣ The Fabric: Our non-woven geotextile is strong enough to hold soil, yet allow plant roots to grow through. 3️⃣ The Roots: Here is the magic! As native plants grow, their deep root systems pe*****te the bags and drive straight into the hillside behind them.
Over time, the roots take over the structural heavy lifting, creating a living wall that actually gets stronger every year.

📣 Introducing our NEW Envirolok Video Case Study Series!

We are thrilled to launch a brand-new series showcasing how Envirolok’s permanent, vegetated solutions are tackling complex erosion and slope stabilization challenges across the globe. 🌱

To kick things off, we are taking you to the Glenorchy Trail in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. This slope had been subjected to the continuous scouring action of 16 Mile Creek and the continued erosion was threatening the integrity a beloved, heavily used public trail.

Here is how the Envirolok system brought the slope back to life:

The Scale: Over 8,000 Envirolok units were installed along a steep slope soaring more than 30 feet high.

The Engineering: Designed to conform to natural contours, the system was reinforced with threaded rock anchors to guarantee shear strength and lasting stability.

The Transformation: The slope was hydroseeded with native grasses and wildflowers, and planted with nearly 2,000 live dogwood and willow stakes.

The Result: A fully vegetated, permanently stabilized slope in just 3 months, with deep root systems adding even more structural support! 🌿💪

A huge thank you to our partners on this incredible 2014 project: Envirolok Canada, CSL Group, Marco Clay, the Town of Oakville, and Amec Foster Wheeler.

Watch the video below to see the stunning before-and-after transformation! 👇 And be sure to follow us—we have plenty more exciting project spotlights coming your way soon.
