The start of something big! 🌱✨

Work is officially underway on a slope restoration project designed to blend structural strength with natural beauty. To give the property complete bottom-to-top access, the design features a seamless mix of gravel paths and High Format stone steps—anchored and reinforced with the Envirolok Vegetated Slope System.

Once fully integrated, this hillside is going to come alive:
🌾 Open slope areas are being seeded with native prairie species for deep root stabilization.
🌸 The Envirolok bags will be vegetated with short natives and sedum, adding vibrant seasonal color, texture, and permanent erosion control.

A project like this takes a stellar team, and this collaboration is one for the books. Huge shoutout to the Vande Hey Company for a timeless design that prioritizes natural views and effortless access, and their collaboration with Envirocraft to tackle some of the tougher terrain and executing the Envirolok installation on these challenging slopes.

We love seeing a landscape come back to life! Jason and his team at Arbor Earth and Stone recently completed another beautiful slope restoration. By utilizing Envirolok's fully-engineered stabilization system, they were able to create a long-lasting, natural feature that seamlessly preserves the slope and protects the outdoor living spaces situated right above it. The new vegetation is just starting to grow in, but it’s already making a wonderful impact on the hillside. It is amazing to see the progression from the initial structural installation to a secure, living landscape that will only get stronger as the roots take hold. When a massive storm hit Arbor Hills Nature Preserve, our Envirolok vegetated system was tested right as the new growth had just started taking root—and it stood strong against the powerful floodwaters!

Shoreline Restoration Update: Protecting Lake Delevan 🌊🌱
Heavy runoff, harsh winter ice push, and relentless wave action can take a serious toll on lakefront property, breaking down bank integrity over time.

This recent restoration project—installed by Arbor Earth & Stone—uses a hybrid approach to tackle those exact challenges. By pairing a low-angle stone toe with the Envirolok system, we build long-term stability into the shoreline while enhancing the natural beauty of the property.

Why This Hybrid Design Works:
Wave & Ice Energy Dissipation: The low-angle stone toe absorbs wave energy and accommodates ice movement as it pushes toward shore, significantly reducing bank damage.

Wildlife Access: The gradual slope makes it far easier for local wildlife to transition safely between land and water.

Erosion & Runoff Control: The Envirolok vegetated wall system stabilizes upper slopes and filters stormwater runoff before it reaches the lake.

🌿 Project Spotlight: Amoco Fish & Habitat Restoration 🐟
We are thrilled to share the incredible story of the Amoco Fish and Habitat Restoration project! Located on the 23-acre site of a former fuel refinery, this initiative has begun to breathe new life into the local ecosystem and the economy. Over 4,250 metric tons of decades worth of unnatural fill were removed, restoring nearly 10 acres of vital coastal wetland and natural shoreline habitat. 🌊
Envirolok was installed to ensure long-term stability and protection of the shoreline and adjacent trail system. By combining the natural, vegetative strength of Envirolok with traditional rip rap, 300+ linear feet of shoreline have been restored. 🚴‍♂️🛡️
