Here's 3 of the most common Springtime home insurance claims and steps you can take TODAY to help avoid them!
1. Electrical Damage: Have an electrician inspect your home's wiring annually. During the Winter, mice tend to make their way inside homes and may have chewed through some wiring in the process, which makes it especially essential to do an electrical check-up in the Spring.
2. Roof And Siding Damage: Assess your roof for damage that may have occured during the Winter and make small repairs as you go to prevent further damage and leaks. If your roof needs extensive or costly repairs, it may be best to file a claim.
3. Drain and Sewer Build-Up: While homeowner policies cover some forms of water damage, standard policies generally do not cover damage caused by drain or sewer backup. This Spring, check your sinks, showers and toilets for any signs that the drains me backed up, and call a plumber when necessary.
