Medicare Monday Fact: If you don’t sign up for Medicare Parts B (medical insurance) and D (prescription coverage) on time—and don’t have qualifying coverage through an employer—you’ll pay a penalty added to your monthly premium for life. Even if you’re healthy, enrolling as soon as you’re eligible helps avoid these lifelong extra costs. Double-check your coverage and don’t let late enrollment cost you!

Medicare Monday Fact!

While the Medicare eligibility age is 65, you may not have to sign up then if you or your spouse are still working and you have health insurance through that employer. However, even if you have job-based insurance, an employer may require that you enroll in Medicare at 65 and use its insurance to fill any gaps in Medicare.
